The Chen Ding-chuan Series of Lectures

Timed to coincide with the TKU 60th anniversary celebrations is a series of lectures organized by the Department of International Business. The main areas broached in the lectures include topics relating to the international economy and the future development of enterprises. The series comprises a total of 3 speakers from academia and 5 speakers from the business community, including department alumni, Chen Ding-chuan.

“It Was You All Along” – TKU Alumni Display Commences

On the 2nd of November, the display entitled “It Was You All Along” officially commenced. The display showcases artwork and books produced and published by TKU alumni. During the opening ceremony, the President of TKU, Dr. Flora Chia-I Chang, observed that among the ranks of TKU alumni are many talented individuals with expertise in business and academia. Together, they form a collective testimony to TKU’s ability to nurture talented professionals.

Restoring a First-class Theater

On Nov. 2, the College of Liberal Arts was home to a “re-opening ceremony”. The ceremony marked the re-opening of Tamkang University’s Experimental Theater, which had been closed for refurbishment. A number of activities were organized as part of the ceremony, including a theatrical performance, a brief report on the renovation process using diagrams and pictures, a scrumptious lunch, consisting of south European style food and wine, and a toast – by the President of Tamkang University, Dr. Flora Chia-I Chang – to Tamkang University’s upcoming 60th anniversary.

Diamond Jubilee Exhibition Opening Ceremony

On November 3, an opening ceremony was held to mark the beginning of the Diamond Jubilee Exhibition, an art exhibition comprising over 80 pieces currently displayed at the Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center. The opening ceremony, attended by over 40 contributing artists, involved a banquet which featured live violin performances. During the banquet, TKU artist, Prof. Gu Zhong-guang, lead the 40 plus attending artists in handing over their finished pieces, in a symbolic ceremony, to TKU President, Dr. Flora Chia-I Chang.

Overseas Sister Universities Arrive at Tamkang

Today (Nov. 6), 85 overseas dignitaries from 35 TKU sister universities will arrive at the Tamsui Campus to attend the TKU 60th anniversary Diamond Jubilee. The guests, apart from joining in on the spectacle of the Official Ceremony, will also attend one of the two scheduled Presidents Forums. Delegates from Mainland China will take part in the first Presidents Forum, held on Nov. 6, which explores the topic “Prospects for Future Cross-Strait Cooperation” and will be conducted in Chinese. Subsequently, on the 7th of Nov., delegates from Europe, the USA, the Philippines, and Japan will participate in a Presidents Forum conducted in English, to be held at the Lanyang Campus.

Tamkang’s Light Show and Egg Roll Festival

At dusk on the 5th of November, Shepherds Lawn at TKU’s Tamsui Campus came alive with a colorful light show. The display, which ushered in TKU’s 60th Anniversary celebrations, shot rays of light in all directions and discharged plumes of fake mist, as students watched on in awe.
