Applications Open for Short-term Student Exchange to Japan

Want to go on a short study exchange to Japan? Applications are now open for the 2012 Scholarship for Short-term Student Exchange to Japan. The deadline for the application is 12 midday on the 10th Nov. Those interested in applying should hand in a completed application form to the Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs.

TKU’s 61st Anniversary Kicks Off at Lanyang

To celebrate TKU’s 61st anniversary, the Lanyang Campus will hold a wide range of activities starting from Sat 5th Nov. From 10am on the 5th, the Lanyang Campus will be home to a major “Anniversary Fair” consisting of authentic Taiwanese snacks, local specialty foods from various regions around Taiwan, international cuisine, stalls with games, as well as a plethora of art and craft items for sale. The fair will also feature performances by Lanyang dance and music clubs, as well as sports competitions, such as volleyball and basketball tournaments.

The Forum for American/Chinese Exchange at Stanford (FACES)

TKU PhD candidate, Chen Yi-fan, has been invited to present a speech at the Forum for American/Chinese Exchange at Stanford (FACES). The Forum is an annual event that brings together 40 master and PhD students from the US, Taiwan, and China to discuss issues related to Cross-Strait and US relations. Participants generally consist of students from top universities in the three regions, including Harvard, MIT and Peking University. Yi-fan commented: “I hope to serve as the voice for Taiwan and bring people’s attention to Taiwan’s international position”.

The 3rd Taiwan-Europe Higher Education Conference

On the 24th October, Tamkang University was home to the 3rd Taiwan Europe Higher Education Conference (TEHEC). The annual conference is jointly organized by the Foundation for International Cooperation of Higher Education of Taiwan (FICHET), the European Education Fair, and Tamkang University. The TEHEC serves as a forum that discusses practical strategies for increasing exchange between Taiwanese and European institutes of higher education, while also facilitating a venue for interaction between university delegates from both local Taiwanese and European universities.
