Win Prizes for Studying English

As of 2011, students who take part in English proficiency exams and meet the requirements specified by TKU will be in the running to win cash prizes.

The “Follow Your Dream” Job Fair

The annual TKU Job Fair has become a Tamkang ritual and must-attend activity for TKU seniors. Held by the TKU Career Guidance Section, the fair will commence on the morning of March 28th at Poster Street, and will feature industry representatives from over 50 major companies.

Alumni Return for Department Reunions

In March, as the sun comes out and the azaleas bloom, Tamkang alumni return to their alma mater to reunite and reconnect. This year, alumni spring festivities were organized by each department and not by the TKU Faculty Office, as was the case in previous years.

Malaysian Deputy Minister Visits Tamkang

On Friday March 23, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education in Malaysia, Dr. Hou Kok Chung, visited the TKU Tamsui campus. He was accompanied by the Deputy Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia (TKU Department of Business Management alumnus), Lin Min-li. In addition, the newly-elected President of the Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities in Malaysia (FAATUM), TKU alumnus Lee Ser-Chong, along with former FAATUM president, Yau Teck Kong, also made a goodwill visit to the TKU Tamsui Campus. They were received personally by the TKU president, Dr. Flora Chia-I Chang, the Vice President for International Affairs, Dr. Wan-Chin Tai, and other senior TKU staff.

Seminars to Enhance Teaching and Learning

On March 21, the TKU Office of Academic Affairs and the Center for Learning and Teaching held two seminars at the Chueh Sheng International Conference Hall. The first took the theme “evaluating the reliability and credibility of test questions through students’ results”, and featured opening remarks by TKU President Dr. Flora Chia-I Chang, as well as speeches by the Executive Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, Yu Chia-Cheng, and the Section Chief of the Student Learning Support Section, Su-chieh Huang.

The New Tamkang Times’ Image Database

The Tamkang Times’ Image Database is now available online! Set up in a user-friendly, easy-to-view format by the Digital Design Section, Office of Information Services, the online album allows students and faculty to download a variety of pictures, which have been sorted by date and edition.

Creating Links with TUFS

On March 14, Tamkang University concluded a formal partnership agreement with one of Japan’s more prestigious universities, the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS).

TQM at Tamkang

As part of its commitment to total quality management, TKU is set to hold two activities to promote TQM among all Tamkang colleges and departments. On March 28, Tamkang will host a TQM delegation consisting of around 20 members from the Chinese Society for Quality, the Certified Managers for Quality Association, and related industry experts. Subsequently, on March 30, the TKU Office of Quality Assurance and Audit will hold the annual Total Quality Management Seminar, which will this year take the theme “Highlighting TQM features; enhancing organizational efficiency”. A total of around 650 staff members are expected to take part.
