TKU Students’ EU Research Rewarded

In the recently held 3rd National Competition on the Best Postgraduate Thesis Presentations, Tamkang University bagged a bevy of prizes. In total, four TKU master and PhD students received “Best Thesis” awards. The Competition is an annual event comprised of five thesis presentation sessions. In each session, two to four students light the podium to present their own dissertations. And in each session, one presentation is selected for the “Best Thesis” award.

In order to provide newly accepted physically or intellectually disabled students with the opportunity to become better acquainted with their future school, the TKU Center of Resources for the Blind recently (May 29) held a Student and Family Orientation activity.

Workshops and Triumph for Tamkang Creative Culture

On May 18 and 25, TKU’s Innovative Center for Cultural and Creative Industries held two separate workshops related to exhibition planning and management. As the second and final workshop concluded, a competition also organized by the ICCCI began. The competition required teams to apply innovative ideas for exhibiting Tamsui and its core characteristics to attract visiting tourists.

A Lecture by Guest Speaker, Dr. Paul Joseph Lim

On 30th May, Dr. Paul Joseph Lim, National University of Malaysia, came to Tamkang University to deliver “An Analysis on the Recent Malaysian Parliamentary Elections”. Dr. Lim is the former Director of the European Research Center, National University of Malaysia. His special lecture provided an in-depth look at the current electoral dynamics in Malaysia.

New Programs and Initiatives to Drive Industry Cooperation

TKU consistently designs new credit programs each academic year based on the unique characteristics of each of its colleges and the demands and trends in the contemporary business environment. In the 2012 academic year TKU implemented 38 new credit programs, and this year (2013 academic year) is has continued to cater for students by offering an extra five new credit programs.

Public Praise for the TKU e-Calligraphy Pen

TKU’s Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center recently collaborated with the National Palace Museum to bring the ancient calligraphy works of famous Chinese artists to life. Using the e-Calligraphy Pen, prominent works produced over the span of the last two millennia by Wang Yizhi, Huang Tingjin, and Su Shi, to name just a few, are recreated in animation form, stroke by stroke. By using the “restore” function on the high-tech device, learners can clearly view the order and angle of brushstrokes that swept across the parchment and gave life to these timeless masterpieces.
