The 2013 TKU Student Club Evaluation.

A TKU student club evaluation was recently held at Tamkang's Tamsui Campus. It was conducted by 18 experts from both within and outside of Tamkang University, and emphasized each clubs' operation and management throughout the last academic year. Those evaluating the clubs note only gave precious feedback and suggestions on how to improve, but also issued prizes to clubs that performed exceptionally.

A “Year of Moral Integrity” Debate Contest

Which is more important – having moral integrity or having a high level of education? Do friendly white lies violate the concept of moral integrity? These are the focus questions that were used in the Lanyang Campus “Year of Moral Integrity” Debate Contest, held on 5th June.

TKU Takes Part in the Ministry of Defense Spratly Islands Study Camp

In order to bring a practical element to student learning, the Director of the TKU Graduate Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies, Dr. Wong Ming-Hsien, along with Sun Guo-Hua (Professor, Department of Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Engineering) recently led students to participate in the Ministry of Defense Spratly Islands Summer Camp.

2013 Cross-Strait Foreign Language Teaching Symposium

From May 31 to June 1, TKU, along with China’s Peking University and Yanbian University jointly held the 2013 Cross-Strait Foreign Language Teaching Symposium. The Symposium was held at Yanbian University, in Jilin Province, China. It was attended by 12 teachers from the TKU College of Foreign Languages and Literatures, including the Dean of the College, Dr. Wu Hsi-Deh. During the Symposium, the 12 TKU teachers presented 13 dissertations.

Creative Assemblages

From May 31 to June 2, a major international conference was held at TKU’s Chueh Sheng International Conference Hall, Tamsui Campus. The First International Deleuze Studies in Asia Conference (entitled “Creative Assemblages”) was organized by the TKU Department of English, with help from the National Chung Hsing University’s Research Center for the Humanities and Social Sciences and the English and American Literature Association of the Republic of China; and funded by the National Science Council, the Ministry of Education, and Tamkang University.

The 69th TKU Administrative Affairs Meeting

On June 7, TKU held the 69th Administrative Affairs Meeting at the Chueh Sheng International Conference Hall, Tamsui Campus. The Meeting was broadcast live via webcam to participants at the Lanyang Campus.

A New Partnership with Ewha Women’s University

Continued Success with Microsoft Office

On June 1st, the national finals for the Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Office were held in Taiwan. As in previous years, the Tamkang contingent dominated the field, claiming first and second places in the categories of Word and Excel (2012 versions). TKU’s successful entrants included: second year Department of Statistics student, Liu Yi-Ping (Word, first place); third year Accounting student, Wei Ya-Cheng (Word, second place); third year Statistics student, Hsu Hui-Hsuan (Excel, first place); and second year Statistics student, Hsieh Chi-ting (Excel, second place).
