Career Boat Week At TKU

【Reported by Ying-zhen Lu, Ya-xuan Ji, Tamsui Campus】The Office of Student Affairs held the Career Boat Week, which entailed lectures, resume building, simulated interviews and even internship assistance. On the 17th at noon, President Flora Chia-I Chang and Director of the Office of Student Affairs, Chih-en Ko, came to the campus plaza to officially send the Career Boat Week on it’s way. Come register for the career fair that will be held on the 25th in Student Activity Center at Hai Bao Street. The career fair will include HIWIN, Foxlink, UNIQLO, Din Tai Fung Restaurant and Taishin Financial Holdings.

Campus Spring Banquet Takes Place. Lanyang Holds a Picnic for Alumni

【Reported by Jin-yu Cai, Yi-mei Chen, Xue-fen Ma, Lanyang Campus】Once again spring has begun to decorate the campus with colors of warmth and the annual Spring Banquet for the alumni Homecoming has taken place. On March 14th in the Shao-mo Memorial Gymnasium and Lanyang’s Shao-mo Activity Center, 700 alumni returned to campus in celebration of the new year. President Flora Chia-I Chang expressed her gratitude for the year’s achievements, including being listed in Cheers Magazine for the 18th time in a row as the most preferred university graduates for employment. She also thanked the alumni for their financial support in the construction of the Shou Chien International Conference Center.

TKU Continues to Build Relations with Latin America

【Reported by Ya-xuan Ji, Tamsui Campus】Students of the third year of the E-learning Executive Master’s Program in Asian Studies arrived last week to receive courses. This program was founded three years ago with the objective of using education to form a bridge between Latin America and Taiwan academically and even politically. Just as the Cross-Strait Relations and Chinese People’s Diplomatic Political Strategy Courses have give students a much deeper understanding of the different issues between Taiwan and Mainland China, this course intends to give students a more detailed global perspective.

600 Attend the TQM Forum

【Reported by Yu-xuan Zhou, Chi-yue Jiang and Jin-yu Cai, Tamsui Campus】The 2015 Annual Total Quality Management forum was held on March 20th in the Student Activity Center. The purpose of the forum was to act as a platform for Tamkang University staff to communicate, interact and express goals and objectives, especially focusing on, “The Art of Speaking and Work Quality.” Special lecturers included the founder of the Comedians Workshop, Shao-ching Sung, representatives of Unimicron and participant of the 27th National Group Competition, TKU’s Dream Team. In attendance was President Flora Chia-I Chang, the three university vice presidents and first and second level administrators.

TKU Vice President and Dean Travel to Mainland Sister Schools

【Tamkang Times】On March 16th Vice President of International Affairs, Wan-chin Tai, and Dean of the College of Business and Management, Chien-liang Chiu, travelled to Mainland China to visit sister schools Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) and Central China Normal University (CCNU). The trip proved to be fruitful, promising to increase enrollment for 2015-16 for the masters and doctoral programs and establishing new academic exchanges.

President Chang Travels to Education Forum in Japan. Chang Gives Lecture on Asia’s Role Globally

【Tamkang Times】From March 8th to the 10th President Flora Chia-I Chang and Director of the Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs, Pei-wha Chi Lee, travelled to Japan to meet with sister school, Hosei University. The TKU representatives attended a research forum held by Hosei on internationalization and President Chang gave a lecture on How Asian Universities Can Cultivate Globally Effective Personnel. President Chang also attended the International Department’s Assessors Meeting which covered the topic of Global Human Resources Cultivation and Planning.

Tamkang Awarded as Internationally Exceptional School by MOE

【Tamkang Times】In recent years there has been an influx of international students coming to Taiwan. The Ministry of Education (MOE) has prepared to meet with the needs of incoming overseas students by promoting internationally-oriented quality assessments to higher learning institutions. This plan is focused on five points: University International Development and Specialty, International Student Academic Support, Junior College International Manpower and Administration Resources, International Languages on Campus and Websites, and International Cooperation and Exchanges. After registering for MOE’s assessment, Tamkang University met with over 60 percent of the specifications, earning praise and MOE’s title of an internationally “Exceptional University.”
