TKU Holds Academic Exhibition

【Reported by Qi Zhuo, Tamsui Campus】In order to bring in new students for the 2015 academic year, Tamkang University’s Admissions Section will be holding a two day event on the 11th and 12th titled, “Choose TKU for your Career.” This event will include the participation of 52 departments that will meet with students from all over Taiwan to give them a career plan and help them develop related work skills. Director of the Admissions Section, Hui-chuan Chen, expressed, “In order to give students a clear understanding of the unique development opportunities offered at TKU, we’ve provided this career workshop that will give both students and parents a clear view of our professional resources.”

Annual Academic Assessment at TKU

【Reported by Yu-xuan Li, Xin-yu Wang, Ya-han Cao, Tamsui Campus】The 2014-15 Annual Academic Assessment is underway at Tamkang University and 5 assessors from the Ministry of Education’s Higher Learning Center will evaluate the Graduate Institute of Asian Studies, the Graduate Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies and the Department of Information and Library Science. The evaluation is expected to be complete by June and the results and improvements will be announced.

Tamkang University Holds 2015 Career Exhibit

【Reported by Ya-han Cao, Tamsui Campus】On the 25th of March, New Taipei City held the 2015 career exhibition in the Student Activity Center on Tamsui campus. There were 50 different enterprises represented including HIWEN Technologies Corp., Unimicron, Foxlink, Acbel Polytech Inc., E. Sun Bank, Taishin Financial Holdings, Din Tai Fun Restaurant, Regent Taipei, Miramar Garden Taipei, UNIQLO and many more. The companies were represented by technicians, engineers, salesmen and other positions adding up to a total of 2,500 employees.

TKU’s Tibetan Studies Holds Special Discussion

【Reported by Hao-ming Xu, Tamsui Campus】Tamkang University’s Center for Tibetan Studies held a special discussion titled “The Satisfaction of Compassion” and they invited speaker from Seramey in India, Hensur Lobsang Rabga, Sogyal Rinpoche and Geshe Gelek. The event attracted around 60 people and began with former president Horng-jinh Chang introducing the Center for Tibetan Studies. Afterwards Sogyal Rinpoche expressed his gratitude to TKU for the invitation for this special discussion. The speakers touched on the freedoms and pleasures involved in living a benevolent lifestyle. They touched on how harming any creature only reflects back onto the self and that wisdom is gained through caring.
