TKU Teachers and Students Travel Overseas for Various Academic Events.

【Reported by Yu-xuan Zhou, Xue-fen Ma, Bo-jun Zhuang, Lanyang Campus】Last week many teachers and students at Tamkang University travelled overseas for various academic events. Dean of the College of International Studies, Kao-cheng Wang, Director of the Eastern Association Research Center, Juo-yu Lin, Director of the Graduate Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies, Ming-hsien Wang, Professor of the Graduate Institute of Asian Studies, Ching-lung Tsay, Professor of the Graduate Institute of European Studies, Chong-kou Tzou and Professor of the Graduate Institute of the Americas, Luis Pere Francisco, travelled to Jakarta, Indonesia for an academic exchange at the beginning of April.

President Chang Holds Congratulatory Banquet for Student Association

【Reported by Kai-qi Zhang, Bo-jun Zhuang, Jin-yu Cai, Tamsui Campus】Last month the Ministry of Education held the 2015 Junior College Student Association Achievements Competition and Tamkang University’s Student Association was honored with first place amongst 116 teams from junior colleges all over Taiwan. Also the Department of Public Administration’s Student Association competed in the 2015 National Junior College Student Association Evaluation Competition against 280 student groups from 150 junior colleges and received two outstanding awards in the categories of “Academic Artist Groups” and “Autonomy Comprehension Groups.” In order to celebrate these recent achievements, President Flora Chia-I Chang held a congratulatory banquet on March 9th.

The Elite Alumni Group and EMBA Hold New Summit

【Reported by Jin-yu Cai, Tamsui Campus】The Golden Eagle Award winners established the Elite Alumni Group, which partnered with EMBA to hold last year’s Alumni Enterprises Summit. The two alumni groups once again united to hold another summit on the 28th of last month titled, “The New Trends of the Summit.” Director of the Elite Alumni Group, Ching-nan Chen, expressed that the goal of the summit was for the alumni to have a chance to share information for the purpose of sustainable university development. Vice President of Administration, Yi-jen Hu, stated, “The 24 alumni groups at this university are an invaluable asset. It’s great for them to have an opportunity to communicate and strengthen their relationships.” It was a touching moment as over a hundred alumni came together for the gathering.

Japanese Author Enlightens TKU Fans of Literature

The Center for Murakamiharuki Studies in Tamkang University (CMSTKU), invited Japanese author, Yoko Tawada, to give a lecture focusing on literature and the crucial aspects needed to reach your audience successfully. The lecture was made into a video that will be available online. Director of the CMSTKU, Chiu-kuei Tseng, expressed, “It’s such an honor to have the opportunity to learn from Yoko Tawada’s invaluable personal experience.”

The College of Business and Management Hold Four Day Event on Hai Bao Street

During the rainy spring weather, the annual event consisted of a Q&A session, ravel and lots of delicious foods sold by vendors. From the 7th to the 9th a discussion was held by the Department of Finance and various alumni discussed their accomplishments and key secrets to the trade.
