World Book and Copyright Day

For the annual World Book and Copyright Day, Tamkang University is holding a reading and travel sharing event in the Chueh-sheng Memorial Library titled, “TKU Lib Talk” on the 23rd of April. President Flora Chia-I Chang has been invited to share her thoughts on a piece written by Gerhard Casper, “The Winds of Freedom : Addressing Challenges to the University.” Also starting from the 20th of April there will be a book display under the theme of exploring the city. The display will contain literature and films with information pertaining to lifestyle, history and development of the city.

A Closer Look at TKU Academic Journals.

【Reported by Xin-yu Wang, An-jia Chen, Hong-wei Chen, Tamsui Campus】According to Tamkang University Press, Tamkang University has 17 academic journals including The Journal of Applied Science and Engineering, TSSCI, Tamkang Review, Information and Management Science, Tamkang Journal of Chinese Literature and more. The Department of Information and Library Science’s journal, TSSCI, has been awarded the title of top level information by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The Chemistry Mobile Featured On DaAi TV and Science 2.0 Magazine

【Reported by Jin-yu Cai, Jia-lin He, Tamsui Campus】The Chemistry Mobile will be holding an event displaying scientific experiments on April 23rd in cooperation with Dean of the College of Sciences, DaAi TV and Science 2.0 Magazine at New Taipei City’s An Kang High School. The event will be broadcasted on DaAi TV on the show titled, “Life Inside Science” and shown in Science 2.0 Magazine allowing the entire nation to take a closer look at the Chemistry Mobile and its yearly route. Representative of the Chemistry Mobile, Xuan-zhang Gao, expressed, “I really look forward to the promotion of many of these experiments. They will really be useful for showing people how science is involved in their everyday lives.”

A Team of 39 Represents Come to TKU to Discuss RFID

【Tamkang Times】Related to the new applications of the Yo-yo card that will soon be available on the student identification, presidents of Chang Gung University (CGU), Chang Gung University of Science and Technology (CGUST) and Ming Chi University of Technology came to TKU university with a total of 39 people for an academic exchange on April 16th.

The People’s National Security Conference

【Tamkang Times】Graduate Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies and the Taiwanese Culture and Education Prospect Foundation (TCEPF) held, “The People’s National Security Meeting” on Tamsui campus on March 18th. The meeting discussed issues of national security, economic security, public safety and diplomatic safety. President of TCEPF, Ning-hsiang Kang, Director of Academic Sinica, Hsin-Huang Michael Hsiao and Former Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ying-Mao Kau were invited to host the event.

【Reported by Yu-xuan Zhou, Ya-han Cao, Tamsui Campus】Tamkang University alumni and former TKU reporters, Wen-yan Wang and Ya-wen Zheng, have recently been recognized for outstanding feats in film. Wen-yan Wang, alumni of the Department of Transportation Management, recently participated in Taiwan Press Photographer Association’s (TPPA) 2015 Taiwan News Photographer Competition and won multiple awards including the categories of Natural Environment and Technology, Features, Portrait, Picture Series and Prince of the Seas.

11 TKU Students Receive Li-chou Gao Scholarship of 50 Thousand NT
The ceremony for the 26th Li-chou Gao scholarship took place on April 13th and a total of 11 students were awarded 50,000 NT apiece. 60 Alumni of the Department of English Make Grand Donation

【Reported by Yi-wan Lu, Tamsui Campus】Director of the Department of English, Cheng-hsing Tsai, rallied the 60 alumni of Department of English that graduated in 1985 and they have donated a total of 176,000 NT to the construction of Shou Chien International Conference Center. Cheng-hsing Tsai expressed, “For the alumni spring banquet there were alumni that gathered from all over the world and we shared heartwarming stories of the last 30 years of our experiences.
