【Jin-yu Cai, Tamsui Campus Report】The 2015 Second Semester Sophomores, Juniors and Graduate Student Representatives Discussion took place on May 5th in the Chueh-sheng International Conference Hall. In attendance was Flora Chia-I Chang, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Huan-chao Keh, Vice President of Administration, Yi-jen Hu, all related administration officials and student representatives totalling around 100 participants. Lanyang Campus also attended the discussion via video conference.

【Qi Zhuo, Tamsui Campus Report】Tamkang University Alumni of the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Director of Akira Seiki Co. LTD., Jun-xiang Zhang, recently made a generous donation of 2,700,000 NT worth of brand new CNC academic facilities to his former department. In celebration of this gesture, the Department of Electrical Engineering held a ceremony on May 5th at 11am in the department’s Engineering Internship Room (E111). In attendance was President Flora Chia-I Chang, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Huan-chao Keh, Dean of the College of Science Bo-chang Wang, Dean of the College of Engineering, Chii-dong He, and first and second level administrators of various departments.

On April 26th the Director of the Life Science Development Center, San-lang Wang (front row first on the left), Director of the Department of Chemistry, Jyh-shing Lin (front row third on the left), Director of the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, Trong-ming Don (front row fourth on the left), travelled in a group of 8 professors to Vietnam along with representatives of VNU University of Science to attend the 2015 International Workshop on Chemistry and Biology. The exchange contained around 120 participants representing various academic institutes.

The Graduate Institute of Future Studies Attends Exchange in Korea

【Bo-jun Zhuang, Tamsui Campus Report】On April 28th the Graduate Institute of Future Studies was invited to a Korean governmental conference pertaining to policies of technology titled, “Korean and Taiwanese Young People’s Future Conference.” Director of the Graduate Institute of Future Studies, Kuo-hua Chen and Assistant Professor Shun-jie Ji took along two students to the conference in Korea that was made up of 40 participants, many of which were Korean high school students. Before leaving, Kuo-hua Chen expressed, “This meeting is picking up from where we left off in March when we held the Asian Future Studies Internet Conference. This conference will be a more involved exchange and promises to further strengthen our relationship.”

【Zhao-yu Chen, Tamsui Campus Report】On May 11th the 1st Annual TKU Musical Festival will take place, held by Tamkang University Indie Hot Music Club and featuring compositions of 14 different musical groups. Leader of the TKU Indie Hot Music Club and third-year student of the Department of Industrial Economics, Zhen-zong Xu, expressed, “There are going to be many performances that represent different cultures and styles of music, but everyone shares the same love for music and sharing what they enjoy.” During the day on Hai Bao Street, students will be able to enjoy the different performances and even purchase a CD.
