Third Annual Higher Learning International Academic Research Forum

【Ya-han Cao, Tamsui Campus Report】The College of Education and the Graduate Institute of Educational Policy and Leadership will be holding the “Third Annual Higher Learning International Academic Research Forum in Chueh-sheng Memorial Hall to discuss Asian educational policies and public finance. In attendance will be Professor from the University of London, Simon Marginson, President of Kurashiki Sakuyo University, Akira Arimoto, Tamkang University President, Flora Chia-I Chang, Dean of the College of Education, Dian-fu Chang, Director of the Graduate Institute of Educational Policy, Hui-ling Pan, and many other related national and international educators.

The 2015 Miscellaneous Fees Committee Meeting

【Yi-feng Lu, Tamsui Campus】The 2015 Miscellaneous Fees Committee Meeting took place on May 11th in the Chueh-sheng Memorial Hall, hosted by Vice President of Administration, Yi-jen Hu. Also in attendance were teachers and student representatives, many of whom felt they had not received enough information related to the issue and therefore another meeting was appointed to be held on May 18th. Head of the Student Representatives and four-year student of the Department of Chinese, Qi-cheng Zhuang, expressed, “We need to attend to the issues of an effective voting system for resolutions, sufficient cash flow for projects, increase of parental requests and implementing the adjustment of tuition for financial development.” Yi-jen Hu agreed with the motions as the administration responded.

The Australian Perspective is Presented by the College of International Studies

【Tamkang Times】The College of International Studies held the, “East Asian Security Framework’s New Trend Forum: The Taiwanese and Australian Perspective,” on May 11th. Associate Director of the College of Chinese Studies of Australian National University, Richard Rigby, member of the Graduate Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies, Andrew Carr and 4 professors of the College of International Studies discussed the issue while presenting dissertations.

Eastern Political and National Security Forum

【Ya-han Cao, Tamsui Campus Report】On May 7th the Center for European Union Studies held the Eastern Political and National Security Forum, inviting 17 European diplomats for an exchange focusing on East Asian relations. The event was hosted by Vice President of International Affairs, Wan-chin Tai. Director of the Graduate Institute of European Union Studies, Li-chuan Chen, expressed, “The economic relationship of Europe and East Asian is much like the cultural relationship of the two continents. Recently things it has become filled with promise as both sides are ever more enthusiastic regarding trade.” She then encouraged students to deepen their international understanding for the future development of Taiwan.
