The 53rd Anniversary of TKU will be held on November 8 later this year. Apart from the usual programs of an opening ceremony and track and field events, there will be some additional special events such as “Egg-roll Festival—a series of egg-roll painting activities”, “Anniversary Tea Party and Photography Show”, and finally a “Carrie Chang Fine Art Exhibition”. Such a combination of active and passionate activities, with vibrancy and sensuality is designed to inject some new energy to this year's anniversary celebration.
In the planning and preparation meeting for the celebration held last week, all offices involved came up with these innovative ideas in their desire to break away from routine. The Student Association will organize the egg-roll painting activities. They plan to invite TKU president, Dr. Chang Horng-jinh to paint the first stroke on the egg-roll base, TKU's spiritual symbol at the University Commons. On this square, there will be egg-roll painting, various interesting game competitions, wishing boards, and open-air cafes. The organizer also intends to find 53 couples to kiss for 53 seconds to mark the commencement of the occasion.
Besides the above mentioned events, there will be a fun fair, various departmental track and field events and a team relay, the 2nd showing of the Carrie Chang Fine Art Center collection, an exhibition of orchids with arts and crafts by university staff. In addition, the Department of Chemistry will hold its 45th anniversary celebration with its alumni at the Buffalo Hall in the Chungling Chemistry Building. The Office of Alumni Services and Resources Development will also hold a fund-raising dinner party at Sea-view Restaurant. It aims to raise over 2 million NT dollars and will invite Dr. Clement Chang, the Founder of TKU to join this event with the first graduates (1953) of TKU and other contributors.
There will be classes for the evening school on the day of the anniversary. Administrators, however, will only be required to work in the morning so they can enjoy the celebration the rest of the day with students and teaching staff.
