A BIRTHDAY BASH TO CELEBRATE THE ANNIVERSARY

The Student Union named this year’s celebration as the “New May Four Culture Movement”, so the 2nd Egg Roll Festival is renamed as “Five Waves and Four Currents”. A “53 people, 54 legs” walk will kick off this year’s festival, requiring 53 people to have their legs tied together, ‘hoping’ around a logo that stands for the 54th anniversary. There are presents, of course, to award those who can stand the test and humiliation. There are CDs, key rings and coupons that collect points in exchange of souvenirs as prizes. The distribution of these coupons is limited so students need to be quick should they want to have a squashy, comfy cushion and a commemorative badge. The coupons are available at the Egg Roll service counter.

The festival offers five fun contests with prize money as high as NT$ 2,500 for winners. All contests accept registration on location, so whoever believes that they have endurance, humor, and courage are welcome. One contest requires the participants to have their mouth full of water staring at one another; the one who can stand the staring and ridicule can thus contain most water in the mouth and shall be claimed the winner. Another contest that stretches students’ intelligence and team spirit is to stack eggs up to 8 levels. The stack can stay up the longest wins the game. For those who think that they never get enough food can participate in the “Big Stomach” contest. It consists of three rounds of stuffing and the one that is still standing and eating at the end is the winner. However, for those who do not have the endurance for the staring, or the intelligence for egg stacking, nor the stomach for food, do not despair. They can go for this game, which only requires a great sense of humor by splashing water speedily at one another. Not sure how they judge the winners—in either case, fun and wet, wet, wet clothes are guaranteed.

Furthermore, there are a series of questions waiting for challengers relating to the Leaping to the 4th Wave at various points on campus. Students who successfully answer these questions are allowed to pass and will receive delightful presents. Additionally, the Student Union set up a Japanese-style Shinto Shrine for lovers or friends to pray for greater harmony or any other wishes. There will be photographers on hand to take pictures preserving the good time everyone is about to have. Apart from these above activities, there will be a fair, a flea market and an auction on the Poster Street, filled with great bargains to be struck.
