TKU FACULTY DEMONSTRATE THEIR TALENTS IN YEAR-END PARTY

The 2004 School-year Year-end Party took place on January 28, 2005. All the attending staffs were delighted in the marvelous performances and the lottery and award-giving activities.

President Flora C. I. Chang and Founder Clement Chang addressed in the beginning to thank for the hardworking of the entire faculty and wished them to progress in the new school year and wished TKU “a more international and promising prospect.”

The programs in this year-end party was organized by College of Sciences, and hosted by Kon-kung Lin, Secretary of COS, whose grace and delicate costume attracted everyone’s eyes. The programs include folk performance, hot dance, Latin dance, old-song singing, huqin and piano performances, and an ensemble of two songs—“Love You Deeply,” and “Heart of Thanksgiving.”

The trophies in the lottery contain 148 items, including 20 color-screen cell phones provided by First International Telecom (FITEL), and three 20,000 NT dollar prizes provided by Shih-i Chang, Chair of Board of Trustees, Carrie W.T. Chiang Chang, Honorable Chair of Board of Trustees, and Founder Clement Chang.

In the programs, there are the folk performance by Deng Kong Elementary School, and dances and musical performances by TKU faculty and/or students. The hot dance by Club of Standard Dance won the passionate applauses of the participants. Professor Meng-nien Wu’s huqin and his friend’s piano is an amazing duet, with wonderful combination of Chinese and Western instruments and cheerful melody.

Three former Deans of the College of Sciences, Dr. Yun-shan Lin, Dr.Thak-yin Hu, and Dr. Wen-fa Sye, performed a Japanese song, “Love You Deeply,” and won the wild cheer of the audiences. Former President Dr. Yun-shan Lin encored with a famous “Under the Banyan Tree.” The party concluded with the ensemble of “Heart of Thanksgiving” by the entire faculty of College of Sciences. Dean of COS announced that the host for next year’s party would be College of Engineering, and he suggested humorously “No less programs but double the trophy!” (~Chi-szu Chen)
