TKU SIGNS SISTER UNIVERSITIES WITH NAGASAKI UNIVERSITY OF FOREIGN STUDIES, JAPAN

TKU President Dr. Chang Horng-jinh, along with Vice President for Academic Affairs and Chairperson of Office of International Exchanges and International Education, Dr. Feng Chao-kang, visited and signed contract as sister universities with Nagasaki University of Foreign Studies, Japan, which has become TKU’s 77th international sister university.

President of Nagasaki University of Foreign Studies highly valued TKU’s visit and warmheartedly welcomed visiting members. Director of Fukuoka Branch, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Osaka, Huang Ju-hou and journalists from NHK were invited to witness the contract-signing ceremony.

Two universities had discussed broadly collaborative projects, including, among others, student exchanges, coordinating international conference and professor exchanges. Director of International Center at Nagasaki University of Foreign Studies, Ishigawa and related administrative officials will be visiting Tamkang from June 6 to 11. Details for cooperation between two universities will be thoroughly discussed during their visit; the collaboration will also provide precious opportunities for interactions among students and professors between two schools.

President of Nagasaki University of Foreign Studies, Mitsuta Akimasa, and his wife visited Tamkang on April 23 and was impressed by the facilities and beauty of Tamkang campus, especially the facility, faculty and study abroad programs. Baring similar ideals for future development, president Mitsuta expressed his strong wish to promote collaborative plans between two universities.

In the afternoon on May 17, TKU president Chang, along with other members, paid an official visit to president of Nagasaki University of Foreign Studies, Saito Kan, and high-ranked officials. President Chang and President Saito enjoyed a pleasant conversation and expressed mutual expectation for future cooperation.

TKU members for this visit included Chen Hwei-mei, Chair of the International Exchanges and International Education, Kao Po-yuan, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Sung Mei-hua, Dean of the College of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Lien Chin-ji, Visiting Professor in Chinese from Nagasaki University, Liou Charng-huei, Chair of Japanese Department, and Chen Shan-long, Chair of Practical Japanese Department. They visited Japan on May 16 and returned on May 18.
