TKU VICE- PRESIDENT FOR ADMINISTRATIVE AFFAIRS LEADS STAFF TO VISIT AMERICAN SISTER UNIVERSITIES

This weekend, TKU Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Flora Chia-yi Chang, will visit sister universities in the United States, including California State University, Stanislaus, Winona State University and University of Wisconsin at Stout.

Chen Hwei-mei, Chair of the Office of International Exchanges and International Education and coordinator of this visit to the States, indicates that University of Wisconsin at Stout was the first University that has even own the 2001 National Baldrige Award. This March, President Dr. Charles W. Sorensen and Vice President Dr. Julie Furst-Bowe visited Tamkang and gave their speeches in a conference devoting to university quality management. This visit will place its focus on the understanding of the process of quality management practiced in University of Wisconsin at Stout. This trip will also pay a visit to other two universities, which are famous for their university facilities and efficient administration, hoping to learn from their experiences.

TKU members for this visit include Chen Hwei-mei, Chair of Office of the International Exchanges and International Education, Hsu Hung-chung, staff at Office of the International Exchanges and International Education, Hsu Hsiu-huang, Chief of Registration Section, Office of Academic Affairs, Yang Tsung-chuan, staff in Construction and Repairs Section, Office of General Affairs, Chen Juei-er, staff in Guidance Section, Office of Student Affairs, Lee Jing-chun, administrative professional in Chueh Sheng Memorial Library, Lo Shu-hua, administrative professional in Office of the Comptroller, and Lu wei-yi, technician in System Development Section, Information Processing Center.

Before her visit, Hsu Hsiu-huang, Chief of Registration Section, Office of Academic Affairs, has listed ten items, which include student expulsion regulations, registration procedure and regulations, perspective student recruitment, among others; she expects to learn from experiences of sister universities in order to enhance quality and efficiency. Another member, Lu Wen-yi, on behalf of Information Center, will place his focus on the practice of “Office Automation” on campus in the three universities. Yang Tsung-chuan, who works for the Office of General Affairs at Lan-yang campus, will put emphasis on campus environment maintenance, building fire fighting and security, water control, and resources recycling, among many others.
