ABOUT 200 ASIAN COMIC ARTISTS ASSEMBLED FOR EXCHANGE

TKU Image and Comic Research and Taipei Comic Artist Labor Union jointly hosted the 2009 10th Taiwan International Comic Artist Conference at Hotel RegaLees in Tamsui on Oct. 23. Including , the author of Oreha Teppei, Tetsuya Chiba and the original author of Mazinger Z, Go Nagai, about 200 comic artists from Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Mainland China and Taiwan assembled. Many comic fans tried to have their photos taken with renowned comic artists. TKU Chinese Associate Professor Ming-hau Ma delivered a special talk on “Image Reading and the Comic Century,” and he also chaired the penal discussion at the end of the Conference. The Conference also issued a Contribution Award to Taiwan’s renowned comic artist and former TKU teacher, Te-lin Hong for his outstanding contribution to comic literature. Te-lin Hong said that he was very happy to win the award, and he hoped to promote the establishment of Taiwan’s Comic Museum in the future. ( ~Dean X. Wang )
