A group of more than 10 students of Department of Architecture and Building Technology (DABT) will leave Taiwan on Aug. 10 for a 25-day tour to Europe where they make a field trip to Berlin Wall, Louvre Palace, Paris Opera Theater, St. Peter Church and Vicente van Gogh Fine Arts Museum. Four students of College of Technology will go Queensland University for a 28-day intensive language training.
To consider the economic burden of student, a bus will be chartered to carry them to Germany, France, Italy and Holland. Prof. Chou Shao-hsin, who teaches the course, said that the architecture and design is not so simple just to see the drawing. What they saw, touched on materials will help students further know the material, structure and background of building.
Chiang Tung-han, junior of Department of Construction (DC); Chi Yi-ju, junior of Department of Practical Japanese (DPJ); Chang Shao-ling, junior of Department of Finance and Application (DFA); and Lin Hua-yi, junior of Department of International Business Management (DIBM), who obtain subsidies from Ministry of Education, will go to Australia for an intensive language training courses Prof. Duan Yung-ting, team leader, said that students should take part in 25 hours English courses a week. I believed that these intensified courses will help upgrade students’ English ability. They will also exchange opinions with local students and visit cultural installations, Duan said.
Students of Department of Management (DM), DFA, DIBM, and DPJ will go to enterprises for a two-month practice. The enterprise will send a staff to accompany student during his two-month practice. The results of practice will be given by responsible chief of the unit of enterprises which will stand at 50 percent of the practical result while the remaining 50 percent coming from written reports.
