National Central University (NCU) President Liu Chuan-sheng, who assumed his duty recently, visited Tamsui campus, Tamkang University (TKU) last Wednesday.
After seeing the TKU’s beautiful campus and achievement on the globalization, Liu expressed his expectation to TKU Founder Dr. Clement C.P.Chang and TKU President Dr. Chang Horng-jinh that he would do his best to promote NCU, TKU, and Maryland University (MU) into a triangle cooperative relation.
Liu came together with NCU Secretary General Chu Chien-min, Chang Hui-wen, Director of the Library; Lai Che-nan, Dean of College of Liberal Arts; and Lee Cheng, Dean of College of Management. Since Liu had been Vice President of the renowned MU, one of the TKU sister universities, he told TKU Founder that he should have to come to pay a visit to TKU first.
TKU’s Vice President for Administrative Affairs Dr. Flora C. I. Chang and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Feng Chao-kang were also accompanying them on the scene.
TKU’s sister’s tie to MU together with Liu’s deep relation with MU encourages Liu to promote an international triangle cooperation relation. He will try his efforts on the academic cooperation and exchanges among the three universities.
After viewing the fruitful results achieved by TKU on carrying out the globalization, the future-oriented education and the information-oriented education, Liu said that TKU is the best learning model for him.
He highly praised TKU. Initiating as a junior college of English in the critical time of the 1950s, TKU today has already emerged as one of the best private universities in Taiwan, Liu added.
