On November 8th, the finals of the EU Grant contest held by the European Union Center in Taiwan, took place in the Ching-sheng International Conference Hall. The “Deutsch team” made up of German literature students Tai-Jan Chiu and Hsiau-Pei Gu, took first place bringing home a total of 8,400 NT dollars. This intense competition thoroughly tested the participants’ knowledge of Europe in geography, recent events, culture and historical artifacts. The preliminary competition started with 50 student teams and only 12 survived to enter the final competition. German Literature student, Zheng-yong Chen expressed, “I love being able to learn new things about European culture and I’m especially happy to have a chance take home a prize for it.”
