WANG JEN-CHUN DONATES MORE THAN 1,000 VOLUMES OF BOOKS AND CALLIGRAPHIC BOOKS TO CHUEH-SHENG MEMORIA

Emeritus Prof. Wang Jen-chun of the Department of Chinese, TKU, donated a batch of more than 1,000 volumes of books and calligraphic and graphic books to Chueh-sheng Memorial Library at the beginning of this semester.

Prof. Wang has donated a batch of books in Chinese to the University of Stockholm, Sweden. Books he has donated were classic Chinese books and a little part of contemporary books. Asked why he donated classic Chinese books to the University of Stockholm, Wang pointed out that it was very difficulty to secure the classic Chinese books in foreign countries. Besides, these books have already displayed in Chueh-Sheng Memorial Library.

Touching on this donation, Wang said that the majority of books he donated belong to books related to aesthetics, arts and calligraphy. Some were books presented to him as a token by his Japanese and Korean friends, he said.

Wang taught the course of “Chuangtzu” at the Department of Chinese before retiring. Therefore, he has also donated more than 100 volumes of books related to Chuangtzu to Chueh-Sheng Memorial Library.

Prof. Wang is recovering from an illness at home since he retired.
