Tamkang University Partners with Sungreen Energy Technology to Install EV Charging Stations, Opening a New Chapter in Campus Sustainability

On September 16 at 10:30 a.m., the Office of General Affairs held the inauguration ceremony for the official launch of Tamkang University and Sungreen Energy Technology EV Charging Stations at the west-side parking lot of the Shao-Mo Memorial Gymnasium. President Huan-Chao Keh, the three vice presidents, Sungreen Energy Technology General Manager and Tamkang Department of Management Sciences alumnus, as well as Vice President of the Tamkang University Alumni Association of the Republic of China, Mr. Meng-Chi Hsu, attended the event alongside several first-level supervisors and distinguished guests to witness an important milestone in Tamkang’s progress toward a sustainable and green campus. The ceremony featured a ribbon-cutting, presentation of the “ECAR Supreme Membership Card” and discount coupons, and a live electric vehicle charging demonstration.

In his remarks, President Keh stated that carbon emissions from automobiles and motorcycles constitute a significant portion of total energy consumption, and the use of electric vehicles is a key step toward achieving net-zero carbon emissions. He emphasized that the installation of these charging stations represents another major stride in Tamkang University’s goal to build a “Green and Sustainable Campus,” providing faculty and students with more eco-friendly transportation options. He praised Sungreen Energy Technology for its long-term commitment to green energy solutions and its integration of ESG, SDGs, and AI technologies to improve carbon reduction efficiency. He also expressed gratitude to alumnus Meng-Chi Hsu for his continued support of his alma mater, noting that after more than 6 months of joint effort, this collaboration has successfully resulted in the official operation of the EV charging stations, injecting new energy into campus sustainability.

In his address, Mr. Hsu emphasized that giving back to one’s alma mater is the responsibility of every alumnus. The installation of EV charging stations, he noted, is a tangible action in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 7 “Affordable and Clean Energy,” SDG 12 “Responsible Consumption and Production,” and SDG 17 “Partnerships for the Goals,” while effectively reducing campus carbon emissions. He pledged to continue optimizing the system and advancing smart, low-carbon energy management models to help Tamkang achieve its 2025 net-zero carbon target. He also expressed his hope to expand this model across Taiwan, creating a competitive benchmark for sustainable development. Mr. Hsu concluded by personally demonstrating the electric vehicle charging process, allowing attending faculty, students, and guests to experience the convenience of green energy facilities firsthand.
