American TKU Professor Speaks on his Language Development

【Wan-xun Qin, Special Report】“I’ve been here nearly 30 years!” said Associate Professor of the Department of Diplomacy and International Relations, David Lee Kleykamp, in fluent Chinese. Originally from America, he’s been here long enough to discuss the beginning foundations of modern Taiwan. He expressed, “I had never been to Asia when I heard about Tamkang University back in 1987.” A the time he was only 30 years old and highly skilled in English writing.

Department of Educational Technology Holds 2016 Digital Forum【Shi-kai Zhu, Shi-xun Zhao, Tamsui Campus Report】The Department of Educational Technology held the 2016 Digital Academic Study Forum in the International Conference Hall on May 20. The conference emphasized the new trend of study in terms of technology, attracting 140 teachers and students. President Flora Chia-I Chang expressed, “One of the university’s key points of development is having an information-oriented program, which incorporates modern technology. This year modern education includes flipped classrooms, 3D printing and simulations for the purpose of improving academic interests and study effectiveness. I’m sure the future result will be spectacular.”

Information and Communication Week Brings Great Innovation

How do we find our way around a new area when there are so many distracting factors that can occur? Tamkang University’s 7 departments related to information and communication have been researching ways to make life more convenient for everyone. They aim to share their experience and information they’ve studied including mass data analysis, cloud operations, cultural innovation and smart technology to make things even simpler for the average consumer. President Chang has Productive Trip in Shanghai

【Tamkang Times】President Flora Chia-I Chang and Vice President Wan-chin Tai travelled to Shanghai for an exchange at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and sister school East China Normal University (ECNU) from May 16-17. On May 17 President of SJTU, Jie Zhang welcomed the TKU representatives personally as both parties shared concepts of university governing methods and practical implications of policies. In addition, they planned student exchanges, signing an agreement to send 10 students for international study per year.

9 Departments up for Recognition of Excellence

【Yin-xun Liao, Xin-yu Wang, Zhi-yue Jiang, Kai-jun Lin, Li-quan Zhang, Huan Du, Tamsui Campus Report】The 4th Annual Departmental Development Award list is under review consisting of the Departments of Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Banking and Finance, Aerospace Engineering, Statistics, Accounting, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Information Engineering and Mechanical and Electromechanical Engineering. The Departmental Development Award has been in place since the 67th administrative meeting that took place in 2012. Every year in March, related groups put forth academic data to be evaluated in accordance to the standards of the Ministry of Education and then a list of departments is selected for nomination.
