QS University Rankings: Asia 2016 Tamkang University on the List for the Third Time Top 100 for Four Indicators

【Reporter Tsai Jin-Yu, Tamkang Campus】2016 QS University Rankings in Asia was recently released by the UK-based higher education survey, QS. Tamkang University ranked as one of the of 251 to 300 Asian universities, in the same range as National Taipei University, National Changhua University of Education, Tunghai University, and others. This is the third time for Tamkang University to be listed after 2012 and 2013.

Boost in industry collaboration and accreditation

TKU partners with TECO to launch 3 new employment courses 【Reporter Liao Yin-Xuan, Tamkang Campus】Tamkang University has continually strived to obtain opportunities for industry collaboration to minimize the gap between newly graduated students and business-ready employees. President Chang Chia-I and TECO Director Huang Mao-Hsiung completed the Industry Collaboration Signing Ceremony on 14 June.

Wang, Jian-cheng (Senior, Information Communication), Wang, Zi-cheng (Senior, Mass Communication), Lee, Hao-kang (Senior, Mass Communication), Kuo, Jung-chien (Senior, Mass Communication), Kuo, Pei-ying (Junior, Mass Communication), and Tang, Zi-yao(Junior, Mathematics) participated in the Second International New Media Festival and New Media Innovation Competition for College Students held from July 12th to July 14th at Soochow University in China.

English Department Alumnus Wins 1st Place at National Gettysburg Address Reciting Contest

【Reporter Tsai Jin-Yu, Tamkang Campus】Congratulations to Chen, Yan-Ling, an English Department alumnus, for winning the National Gettysburg Address Reciting Contest hosted by The Lincoln Society. Yan-Ling came through in the contest by beating five competitors from other institutions and won a ten-thousand-dollar prize. Before the national contest, Yan-Ling had to beat 26 other competitors from the school in order to represent Tamkang University. When asked about the contest, she said, “Besides the prize, I also received Papers of Abraham Lincoln. This was a happy and unforgettable experience”.

Over 500 TKU Juniors head for One-year Study Abroad

【Reporter Liao Yin-Xuan, Tamkang Campus】520 TKU juniors and graduate students are heading for TKU sister universities for their study abroad journey. TKU office of International and Cross-strait Affairs held a 2016 Junior Abroad Flag Presentation Ceremony on June 21 for those students. Yao-Zong Chi, deputy counselor of Ministry of Education, Liang-Yu Wang, deputy counselor of the Department of North American Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Charmaine Stanley, Associate director of Canadian Trade Office in Taipei, and Mr. Hiram Rios-Hermandez, diplomatic visiting scholar of American Institute in Taiwan were invited to extend their wishes to these students.

80 faculty and students simulate the South China Sea Arbitration

【Tamkang Times】TKU graduate institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies, National Defense University, and Chinese War Games Association participated in the 5th Syncretized Military and Civil Arts war Games Simulation held at Chin-sheng International Conference Hall. Along with students from Nanhua University, there were over 80 teachers and students attended in the activity, aiming at the South China Sea Arbitration.

Congratulations! TKU President Flora Chang elected the 4th director of CEMA and trustee of CIER

【Tamkang Times】Chinese Excellent Management Association (CEMA) held its 2016 annual general meeting on July 15, 2016. TKU President Flora C-I Chang was elected the 4th director of CEMA at the council meeting. Xing-Shi Chang, CEO of Gloria Group, and Zong-Bao Wu, President of Protech System, were elected associate director of CEMA. Members of CEMA are elites of the private and public sectors of industry, academia, and government.
