Kumamoto Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Japan Holds 2nd Recruitment Drive at Tamkang University
For the second time, prominent companies from the Kumamoto region in Japan came to Tamkang University to recruit talent. The Kumamoto Chamber of Commerce & Industry, a union of companies in the region, sent Shinji Hamamoto, Representative Director of Fumidas, and Akihito Kawada, Assistant General Manager of General Affairs, to Taiwan to introduce the internship recruitment system of Japanese companies. On October 17, they hosted a Japanese corporate culture lecture, "Exploring Kumamoto: A Comprehensive Guide from Culture to Career," and held discussions with the Japanese Department to kick off a series of recruitment activities for internships with Kumamoto companies later this month.

3 Tamkang Students Win the 2024 Sustainable and Constructive News Award for Short Film
The 2024 Sustainable and Constructive News Award ceremony, hosted by the TVBS Foundation, was held grandly on October 6. Former reporter of our paper, an alumna of the Department of English, and currently a graduate student at National Taiwan University’s Institute of Journalism, Tsai-Yi Hsieh, along with her classmate Hsin-Yi Tsai, won first prize in the Student Short Film category for their piece, “A Retired Professor Brings Programming Education to Rural Areas, Creating a Positive Cycle.” Mass Communication seniors Ming-Zhi Chien and Sheng-En Tai also received an Excellence Award in the same category for their film “Surfboard Rebirth: The Spirit of Sustainable Surfing,” with the awards presented by TVBS News Deputy Director and Mass Communication alumna Hua Yang.

To strengthen academic exchanges with Australian partner universities and check on the well-being and academic progress of Tamkang University students participating in junior abroad, exchange, and dual-degree programs, President Huan-Chao Keh recently led a delegation to visit 3 sister institutions: Western Sydney University (WSU), the University of Queensland (UQ), and Queensland University of Technology (QUT). The delegation included the Vice President for International Affairs, Professor Hsiao-Chuan Chen, Dean of the Colleges of Engineering, Artificial Innovative Intelligence, and Precision Healthcare, Professor Tzung-Hang Lee, Dean of the College of Business, Professor Li-Ren Yang, and Head of the International Cross-Strait Exchange Section under the Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs, Ms. Hsinyin AC Chu. They engaged in discussions to deepen cooperation and shared perspectives on advancing collaboration.
