Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Veil from Tamkang University’s sister school, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, was invited by the Department of Diplomacy and International Relations to deliver a Tamkang Clement and Carrie Chair lecture on March 25 at 1:20 p.m. in the Chang Yeo Lan International Conference Hall. His talk, titled “Sustainable Finance at the Crossroads – Perspectives from the EU and Germany,” shared insights on the approaches taken by the EU and Germany, hoping to guide sustainable finance toward the right path at this pivotal moment.

Total Quality Management Seminar: Inspiring Minds and Leading the Future Through Effective Communication
The 2024 Academic Year Total Quality Management Seminar was held at the Chang Yeo Lan Conference Hall of the Hsu Shou-Chlien International Conference Center, with the theme "Inspiring Communication, Leading the Future with Quality."

The Office of Quality Assurance and Audit held the “2024 Academic Year Total Quality Management (TQM) Seminar” at 9:20 a.m. on March 28 at Chang Yeo Lan Conference Hall in the Hsu Shou-Chlien International Conference Center. The event's theme was “Inspiring Communication, Leading the Future with Quality” (「智啟溝通 質領未來」). The event was attended by President Huan-Chao Keh, Chairperson Flora Chia-I Chang, the three vice presidents, Robert Ray-Yen Lu, Executive Supervisor of the Chinese Society for Quality (CSG), as well as nearly 300 first- and second-level administrators and faculty and staff from across the university.

Kenny Pang Leads Delegation to TKU, Actively Supports Alma Mater’s Recruitment Efforts
Kenny Pang, President of the Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities, Malaysia, led a delegation to visit Tamkang University, touring the University History Museum, the Shao-Mo Memorial Gymnasium, and the Artificial Innovative Intelligence College to learn about TKU’s environment, history, and innovative development.

Kenny Pang, an alumnus of the Department of Accounting, former President of the Southeast Asia of Tamkang University Alumni Associations, and current President of the Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities, Malaysia (FAATUM), led a 60-member delegation of alumni leaders to visit Tamkang University at 4 p.m. on March 25. The delegation comprised executive members from various regional or university-based Malaysian alumni associations. The Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs arranged a campus tour and a discussion session, including visits to the University History Museum, the Artificial Innovative Intelligence College, and the Shao-Mo Memorial Gymnasium, to help guests better understand Tamkang's campus environment, cultural heritage, and innovative development. A special meeting with President Huan-Chao Keh was also arranged to exchange ideas on student recruitment strategies.

VP Hsiao-Chuan Chen Visits the Philippines to Encourage High School Students to Study at Tamkang
Vice President for International Affairs Prof. Hsiao-Chuan Chen hosted a recruitment seminar at Grace Christian College in the Philippines, introducing the unique features of Tamkang University.

In response to the government's New Southbound Policy and to actively expand the university’s international student recruitment, Tamkang University carried out the “Tamkang STEM and Business Exploration Tour – Heading to Philippine High Schools” project from March 9 to 15. The delegation, led by Vice President for International Affairs Prof. Hsiao-Chuan Chen, included Dean of the College of Business and Management Prof. Li-Ren Yang, Secretary of the Office of International and Cross-Strait Exchange Hsinyin AC Chu, and Filipino student Thomas Earnswell Ang Lui, a freshman in the Department of International Business. The team visited 7 high schools, the Culture Center of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines, and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines. Through academic exchanges and recruitment activities, the delegation enhanced TKU’s visibility in the Philippines, strengthened connections with local high schools, and increased the likelihood of Filipino students choosing to study at Tamkang.

Cultural Cities Reunite: Tamkang and Trier University Strengthen Academic Exchange

On April 1, Prof. Dr. Eva Martha Eckkrammer, President of the University of Trier in Germany, led a delegation to visit Tamkang University’s College of Foreign Languages and Literatures. The visit focused on discussions regarding future academic exchange, student mobility, and collaborative programs. Dean Yi-Ti Lin, Department of German Chair Assoc. Prof. Yu-Hsien Lin, Department of French Chair Prof. Boileau Gilles, German Professor Wan-Bau Wu, Associate Professor Holger Steidele, and Japanese Professor Chiu-Kuei Tseng warmly received the delegation. Both sides engaged in-depth discussions on academic cooperation, faculty and student exchange, and research development. The delegation was deeply impressed by the College’s hospitality and Tamkang’s commitment to educational excellence. They will continue visiting the National Taiwan University, National Cheng Kung University, and the Ministry of Education to further explore Taiwan-Germany higher education cooperation opportunities.

GTC Theme Party: 300 Students Join Jensen Huang in Exploring AI Trends
The "NVIDIA 2025 GTC Keynote Watch Party" was not only attended by Tamkang University students but also opened to high school students, allowing them to join in and stay up to date with the latest developments in artificial intelligence.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang’s keynote speech at the GTC conference, delivered in the early morning of March 19 (Taiwan time), sparked global discussion—and just two days later, its ripple effect continued to spread in Taiwan. At Tamkang University, 300 university and high school students gathered for the “NVIDIA 2025 GTC Keynote Watch Party” to watch a replay of Huang’s speech and log in to the GTC conference website to stay updated on the latest AI trends and gain insight into the future direction of the industry.

On March 10, H.E. Carlos José Fleitas Rodríguez, the Paraguayan Ambassador to Taiwan, visited the Chueh Sheng Memorial Library, where he met and exchanged views with Library Dean Prof. Sheue-Fang Song, accompanied by Associate Professor Yun-Chi Chang of the Department of Spanish. Amb. Carlos José Fleitas R. graduated in 2017 from the In-service Master's Program in Digital Learning in Asia-Pacific and Latin American Studies at the Graduate Institute of the Americas, Tamkang University. Since 2022, he has served his second term as the Paraguayan Ambassador to Taiwan. He has consistently supported Tamkang University’s Latin America-related events, having participated in the opening of the 2023 World Book Day event organized by the library and attended the 2024 graduation performance of the Department of Spanish, demonstrating his support for his alma mater through concrete actions.

First Visit to Tamkang by Morioka Daisan High School from Japan: Students Gain Hands-On Experience in AI-Powered Design

At 9 a.m. on March 14, a group of 11 students and teachers from Morioka Daisan High School in Iwate Prefecture, Japan, visited Tamkang University. They were welcomed by the Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs, which arranged a campus tour, an AI design workshop, and a visit to the College of Artificial Innovative Intelligence. The visit gave the group a deeper understanding of the integration of AI technology and education at Tamkang, leaving a positive impression and increasing their interest in pursuing future cross-border studies at the university.

With a background in vocal performance, Nicolas Drouet delivered a delicate interpretation of several classic French songs.

In collaboration with the Alliance Française de Taiwan, the Department of French at Tamkang University hosted a special event as part of the Taiwan Francophonie Festival. On March 21, the concert “A Journey Through the Champs-Élysées: French Chanson Recital” took place on campus, featuring French lecturer Nicolas Drouet as the soloist, accompanied by accordionist Wei-Ching Tsai. With a background in vocal performance, Drouet delivered an emotionally layered interpretation of several classic French chansons. From soft, whisper-like lyrical moments to powerful emotional outbursts, his voice was rich in texture and expression, captivating the audience and showcasing the universal appeal of music beyond borders.

Tamkang × Skwentex International Sign 2 NT$1-Million Industry-Academia Contracts to Develop Quantum and Customer Service Robots

Skwentex International continues to collaborate with Tamkang University on industry-academia partnerships. On the 25th, Prof. Tzung-Hang Lee—Dean of the Colleges of Engineering, Artificial Innovative Intelligence, and Precision Healthcare—led TKU’s research team to visit Skwentex International. There, they signed two industry-academia contracts with Chairman Andy Chen, an alumnus of the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, and Executive Manager Chao-Hsi Yen. The contracts cover research on quantum computing technology and the development of intelligent customer service robots, with each project receiving research funding of NT$1 million.

5 undergraduate programs in Tamkang University’s College of Engineering—Civil Engineering, Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Information Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering—have officially passed the 2025 IEET (Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan) accreditation. Dean Tzung-Hang Lee stated that this recognition affirms the college's engineering education quality as meeting international standards and that its graduates possess globally acknowledged academic credentials, giving them a competitive edge in domestic and international employment and further studies.

During the winter break, Department of Physics Chair Prof. Cheng-Hao Chuang and Assistant Professor Hsiao-Tsu Wang led 4 students — first-year Ph.D. student Zong-Jhe Hsieh from the Ph.D. Program in Applied Sciences, and senior undergraduates Chi-Feng Lee, Szu-Yu Chen, and Chieh-Kai Hsu from the Bachelor's Program in Advanced Materials Science — to Australia for a 5-week international internship and research visit at the Centre for Catalysis and Clean Energy (CCCE), Griffith University (GU). Prof. Chuang noted that the students received funding from the Ministry of Education’s Subsidy Project for Encouraging Domestic Colleges and Universities to Send Students Abroad for Study or Professional Internships. This exchange enhanced students’ research perspectives, experimental skills, English communication, and international collaboration experience, laying the groundwork for future Taiwan–Australia research cooperation in clean energy development.

From March 25 to 26, the Hong Kong–Macau Student Association, Indonesian Student Association, Malaysian Student Association, Japanese Student Association, and the International Ambassador Team jointly held the "2025 International Students' Ecological and Cultural Exhibition" along Poster Street. The event attracted many visitors, who explored international cuisines and cultural displays while learning about the participating countries' efforts toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), raising awareness and engagement with global issues.
