A Cooperative Agreement with the NIA

At 10am on May 2, 2012, Tamkang University entered into a unique cooperative relationship with the National Immigration Agency (NIA), Ministry of the Interior. The relationship was formalized in a signing ceremony held at the Chueh Sheng International Conference Hall, Tamsui Campus, which saw the signing of the ‘Strategic Alliance Cooperation Agreement’.

TKU Alumnus Earns BOT Professorship

TKU alumnus, Dr. Chhiu-Tsu Lin (or just “C.T.”), was recently named a Board of Trustees Professor at Northern Illinois University (NIU). With this latest honor, Dr. Lin has now received each of NIU’s major awards, including the Presidential Research Professorship, Presidential Teaching Professorship, and an Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching award. He received the BOT Professorship due to his contribution to instruction, research, and community service. As part of the award, he will receive an annual stipend of US $10,000 for the next five years.

The Chemistry Journey Continues

Continuing on from 2011’s International Chemistry Year activities, TKU’s mobile chemistry lab last week visited a high school on the outskirts of Hsinchu City, Northern Taiwan.

New Regulations to Protect Personal Information

Tamkang University will soon adopt new regulations governing the handling of personal information. To explain what the new regulations will entail, a conference will be held this coming Friday, 11th May, at the TKU Tamsui Campus. The conference is to be organized by the Office of Information Services, hosted by the President of TKU, Dr. Flora Chia-I Chang, and will connect attendees at the Tamsui, Taipei, and Lanyang Campuses via webcam.

Strengthening Ties with Business

On April 24, the Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Po-yuan Kao, led a group of senior faculty members to visit two leading Taiwanese enterprises. The group consisted of the TKU Dean of Research and Development, Dr. Shung-wen Kang; the Dean of the Library, Prof. Huang Hong-Chu; a manager from TKU’s Office of Research and Development, Dr. Wang Chun-teng; the Director of the Cham Pion Incubation Center, Dr. Shaw Ruey-Shiang, and Director and Editor-in-Chief of Tamkang Times, Miss. Ma Yu-pei.

Lecturer Pu Wu-Hsiung Honored by Japanese Government

Pu Wu-Hsiung, a lecturer at TKU’s Center for Continuing Education, was recently recognized by the Japanese government for his efforts in helping promote and enhance Taiwan/Japan relations.

Tamkang Times is now an App

A trial version of a “Tamkang Times” App is now available. Those who download the app will receive the latest editions of Tamkang Times campus news and information on upcoming lectures.

Four Firsts in MOS

This year, Tamkang earned four first placings in the Northern Taiwan preliminaries of the 2012 World Cup in Computer Application Skills Competition. The successful entrants included Chu Chi-Kai, who came first in MOS World 2007 Expert and MOS PowerPoint 2010 Expert; Tseng Ting-ya, who finished first in the category MOS Word 2007 Expert; Chang Fu-Chi, who took top spot in MOS Word 2010 Expert.
