RUC Visits Lanyang

On October 27, a twelve-person delegation from the Renmin University of China (RUC) visited the TKU Lanyang Campus. The group included the RUC Deputy Secretary, Niu Weilin, and the Director of the RUC Physical Education Department, Yang Zhan Wu.

Brother A-Zhong’s Postcards – A Hit at the TKU Campus Fair
After the visit to the Lanyang Campus, the delegation took a trip to the nearby ChiaoHsi Hot Springs.

On November 3, one of the stalls at the TKU Campus Fair was selling the postcards of well-known local photographer, Brother A-Zhong. The stall was set up jointly by TKU students and the sport wear company, Go Hiking, which previously sponsored a Brother A-Zhong photo exhibition. A total of close to 150 postcards were sold during the campus fair, and many lucky students got to take home free Go Hiking t-shirts valued at up to $1,000 NT.

Lanyang Fair Draws Crowds

On Saturday November 3, the Lanyang Campus held a series of fun activities to celebrate the TKU 62nd anniversary. It held a campus fair, which featured various food stalls as well as various student performances. The performances were mainly music and dance-based, and they drew large crowds of students from both the Lanyang Campus and the neighboring Fo Guang University campus.

A New Li Chi Mao Gallery in Shandong
The new gallery is a product of Li Chi Mao’s efforts over the last two decades to promote cross-strait artistic interaction and exchange.

A new Li Chi Mao Art Gallery recently opened (October 12) in Gao Tang County of Shandong Province, Mainland China. Li Chi Mao is a long-serving resident artist at Tamkang University and is the former director of the TKU Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center.

A Visit by the New President of the Technological University of Panama

On November 6, the newly-inducted President of the Technological University of Panama, Dr. Oscar Ramirez, visited the TKU Tamsui Campus. On arrival, he was taken on a tour of the campus, visiting the Chinese-palace style classrooms, the Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center, the TKU Maritime Museum, and the Chueh-Sheng Memorial Library. President Ramirez was impressed by the beauty of the campus and TKU’s modern multi-media facilities.

ISPACS 2012

On November 4 – 7, the TKU Department of Electrical Engineering held the ISPACS 2012 at the Fullon Hotel, Fisherman’s Wharf, Tamsui. ISPACS stands for the International symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems. This year’s symposium took the theme “The Emergence of Intelligent Electronics on Green Signal Processing and Communications for Better Life”. It consisted of four keynote speeches and 33 thesis presentations.

To celebrate Tamkang University’s 62nd anniversary, an Official Ceremony was held at the Shao Mo Memorial Gymnasium (7th floor) on the morning of Saturday November 3. Among those in attendance at the ceremony were the President of TKU, Dr. Flora Chia-I Chang; Board of Trustee Members Yea-hong Chen and Chen-Nan Ching; Board of Trustees Supervisor Mei-lan Wang; former TKU Presidents Louis R Chow, Yun-shan Lin, and Horng-jinh Chang; as well as the President of Soochow University, Dr. Pan Wei Ta.

TKU’s Green Campus Policies Rewarded Two Years in a Row
The award was presented by the Minister of the Environmental Protection Administration, Mr. Stephen Shu-hung Shen.

This year, TKU again received the highest honor available to enterprises for implementing environmentally-friendly policies and practices: the Environmental Award for Taiwanese Enterprises. TKU became the first university in Taiwan to receive the award two years in a row.
