A Physics Fair is Held for High School Students

【Reported by Bo-xian Lu, Tamkang Times】The Department of Physics is moving Taipei’s Technology Building here! Last month on the 28th the Department of Physics displayed various different devices and gadgets to be viewed by almost a hundred high school students. This physics event attracted lots of youth to come and peer deeper into the field of physics. Assistant professor of the Department of Physics, Dah-chin Ling, stated, “Now a days it’s so easy for people to have many misconceptions of what physics entails. So it is a great and rare chance for everyone to learn in different ways besides reading. The kids really enjoy playing and learning with physics. I want to thank everyone involved that made this event possible.”

【Reported by Qian-wen Pan, Tamkang Times】This year the College of Education has designed the Doctoral Educational Leadership Skills and Management Program. The Dean of this college, Dian-fu Chang, expressed, “This year we have selected students with different skills and backgrounds so that we could have more thorough developments involving research. I’m hoping this will stimulate some new leadership concepts. It would be better if this program could get the students into critical thinking so that in the future they could become innovative leaders of education. The most important aspect of being a leader is independent thinking. ”

31 Guests From the University of Technology Mara Come to TKU

They were met and given a tour of the Maritime Museum, Palace Lantern Classrooms, the library and other related facilities. Dean of the Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs, Pei-wha Chilee hosted the event at the Chueh-sheng International Conference Hall.

【Reported by Ya-xuan Ji, Tamkang Times】The Honor Roll Courses were presented on the 3rd in the Chueh-sheng International Conference Hall. In attendance was President Flora Chia-I Chang, Vice President of International Affairs, Wan-chin Tai, Dean of the Department of Business and Management Chien-liang Chiu, Dean of the College of Foreign Languages and Literature, Hsi-deh Wu and 87 students who made the Dean’s list for 2013.

【Reported by Jing-ya Su, Jia-wen Lin, Tamkang Times】The College of Business and Management has added two newly designed courses: Financial Market Practical Discussion and Discussion on the Tendencies of the Financial Market. These two courses will be two credits. The classes will be taught by assistant professor of the financial department, Kuang-ping Ku. Many students have been invited to participate in this class in order to learn of the tendencies of the financial market and increase the competitive abilities of Tamkang University.

President Flora Chia-I Chang Attends Higher Education Forum in Indonesia

【Reported by Bo-xian Lu, Yu-pin Lin, Tamkang Times】Tamkang University President, Flora Chia-I Chang, and Executive Director of the International Higher Educational Foundation, Hui-mei Chen, lead an expedition with 20 representatives of Taiwanese universities to hold a forum in Indonesia from the 25th to the 27th. The forum included outstanding higher education personnel from both Taiwan and Indonesia as they discussed issues of culture, environment and exchange programs. President Chang expressed and shared the experiences of Tamkang University’s international programs, including the two current exchange programs with sister universities in Indonesia.
