International Student Welcoming Party at TKU

【Reported by Tian-ran Xia, Tamkang Times】On November 9th the International and Mainland Guidance Section held the “2013 Welcoming Party for International Students” in the Chueh-sheng International Conference Hall. In attendance were over 230 students from all different countries. Also in attendance was Vice President of International Affairs, Wan-chin Tai, Dean of International Affairs, Pei-wha ChiLee, Dean of the International and Mainland Guidance Section, Pei-fen Chen and many other professors and student advisors.

【Reported by Jing-zhuang, Tamkang Times】Starting from November 7th the Architecture Building will be redecorated for a three-day intern course. It will be a display to showcase the Department of Architectures different designs. Assistant professor, Wei-han Tseng, stated, “The theme of this event is to use lots of colors. Everyone is very attracted to different colors and contrasts and we want to teach students how to use magnificent colors in their designs. It should also give all of the students a refreshing feeling to walk through the building.”

【Reported by Jia-wen Lin, Tamkang Times】The 9th annual Alumni Conference has been moved to Hualian. Even though it took place in a different location, there was no loss of enthusiasm. On the 5th of November every gathered together in Hualian University to carry out this year’s alumni exchange. Executive Director of the Office of Alumni Services and Resources Development, Chun-young Perng, expressed, “The alumni are gathering more influence each day. President of the Board of Trustees of the Better Chemistry Better Life, Ding-chuan Chen, will promote many more university exchanges and activities.”

TKU is Recognized as 2013 School of Character Education

【Reported by Jia-fu Gao, Tamkang Times】Tamkang University will be named “2013 School of Character Education” by the Ministry of Education on November 17th because of its educational system that promotes morale values. Dean of Academic Affairs, Chih-en Ko stated, “We have displayed the good character education through five different methods: blending morality with our academic curriculum, researching ways to implement morality and using it to shape our spirit of success, holding innovative events such as the “Night club” and the “Student Character is TKU’s Quality event, also writing and sharing articles and essays about the traits of good character. It’s a great honor to hold this award and be a representative of good conduct amongst all of the junior colleges in the northern region. “

TKU Has the Honor of Receiving the EPA Award For the Third Time

【Reported by Wen-yuan Zheng, Tamkang Times】Due to the lengthy amount of time the university has invested in environmental education while also implementing various environmental protection policies, this year TKU is once again rewarded with the EPA Environmental Award. This makes TKU the first and only institute in the history of Taiwan to receive this award, not to mention three consecutive times. In addition, the Annual Enterprises Environmental Protection Award will also be awarded to this university. In the morning on November 6th, President Flora Chia-I Chang had the honor of meeting Vice President of Taiwan Wu Den Yi at the award ceremony. Vice President of Administration, Po-yuan Kao, received the EPA award in representation of the university.
