The Elite Dream to Reality Forum

【Reported by Yi-feng Lu, Tamkang Times】The Extracurricular Activities Guidance Section added a new event for student groups on November 1st titled, “The Elite Dream to Reality Forum.” It was hosted by Dean of Student Affairs, Chih-en Ko, who invited the Chairman of the Educational Society for Student Organizations, Tung-miao Chang. The theme of the event will be to take a look at the student groups from the point of view of a developing enterprise. Chief of Student Affairs of Feng Chia University, Hsin-nan Chien, will explain to the different participating student organizations the reality of sales and management. The discussion will compare student groups to social services, local care programs, and creative sales. This discussion is designed to help the aim of student organizations to become more practical so that the bridge of academic knowledge and the career world can be established early. Taipei Okinawa Higher Education Conference Ponders on Globalization

【Reported by Yan-ling Chen, Tamkang Times】The Ministry of Education’s Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan held the second annual “Taipei Okinawa Higher Education Conference” in the Chueh-sheng International Conference Hall on December 18th for the promotion of a higher learning exchange between Taipei and Okinawa. The participants included the Department of Education’s Political Deputy Minister, Pi-twan Huang, Chairperson of the Osaka University Committee, Takashi Inoue, 12 Universities from overseas with 8 international university presidents, 9 national university presidents including President Flora Chia-I Chang. Adding the number of the vice presidents and the members of the Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan, the event had a total of around 80 people.

Tamkang University Signs Agreement to Cooperate With Xiamen University

【Tamkang Times】From October 15th to 17th President of Administration, Po-yuan Kao, attended the eighth annual United Cultural Cross Strait Innovative Enterprise and Research Conference. This was TKU’s first time attending this conference that contained over 300 individuals representing 130 universities. Po-yuan Kao stated, “I hope to be able to widen the view of Tamkang University and create more opportunities to cooperate and exchange with different universities. Po-yuan Kao then explained that the concept of creating a culturally related education begins through the cooperation of the university with the city. He continued, “Through working with the resources in the city we are able to create a culturally structured education system. So the key point is acknowledging the city resources as a need for academic growth.”
