Foreign Language Week at TKU

【Reported by Bo-jun Zhuang, Tamkang Times】Foreign Language week has begun on Campus starting from April 28th on Haibao Street. There will be activities and games representing German, Russian, Japanese, Spanish, English, and French. It is like taking a small trip around the world.

The Book Mobile is On the Move

【Reported by Jing-ya Su, Tamkang Times】The Acquisition and Cataloging Section of the Chueh-sheng Memorial Library held the Mobility to Home to Book Store” event on April 28th. Many different libraries and stores as well as the College of International Studies, College of Education, College of Liberal Arts and the College of Business and Management will be showcasing various academic literature through the Book Mobile to give students an opportunity to read and purchase new materials.

【Reported by Wen-yuan Zheng, Tamkang Times】The Office of Human Resources held the Administration Personnel Training Program on April 25th. They invited Vice President from National Taiwan University, Ming-je Tang, to give a lecture on “The Challenge of University Management.” He began by sharing his experience, research and explorations of the university management system in America and contrasted it to the modern governing system for higher education in Taiwan.

Beihang University Sends 6 Representatives

【Reported by Tian-ran Xia, Tamkang Times】On April 24th Beihang University sent 6 representatives to visit and observe Tamkang University campus. They came during the mid-term examinations and weren’t able to observe students while attending classes, but they were able to witness the efficient testing system at TKU. They were also able to visit the Intelligent Automation and Robotics Center and Chueh-sheng Memorial Library before attending a briefing hosted by Dean of the Office of Academic Affairs, Chih-en Ko, with representatives from the College of Liberal Arts, College of Science, College of Engineering, Office of Academic Affairs and the Office of International Affairs. During the discussion they were able to exchange information and mutually absorb ideas.

Students CSIE are Honored With Google’s Creative Application Award

【Reported by Xue-yi Wu, Tamkang Times】The Y.S Award Moving Competition took place on April 18th and third-year students from the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering (CSIE), Ze-yan Lin and Guan-sheng were honored with Google’s Creative Application Award, the Outstanding Character Award and fourth place in the Software Application Division.

【Reported by Bo-jun Zhuang, Tamkang Times 】The Extracurricular Activities Guidance Section invited counselors and teachers of student organizations for the “2014 Student Organization Teacher Discussion” on April 23rd. Altogether there were 108 individuals including Dean of Academic Affairs, Chih-en Ko. Chieh-en Ko first expressed his gratitude to all of the student organization teachers from every department. He stated, “The promotion of accredited student groups has helped tremendously with student development and with TKU’s growth as a whole. Currently the space for the student groups isn’t adequate, but renovations are underway that will provide 28 offices for the student organizations to utilize and sufficient space for a comfortable atmosphere for all needed activities.” Dean of the Extracurricular Activities Guidance Section, Su-kuan Chiang, gave a current report of the status of all of the student groups along with a detailed description of each curriculum.
