Renowned Taiwanese marathon runner, Kevin Lin, was invited to give a lecture themed, “The New World and New Limitations: How do you know what you can do if you don’t do it?” The speech attracted 130 students and emphasized the importance of being driven, chasing your dreams and overcoming challenges. Kevin Lin stated, “It’s not just about running, it’s about following through to your dreams. This refers to exercise, career and everything you encounter in life. Prepare as much as possible and when it’s time to perform, there will be no regrets.”

【Reported by Ying-tian Fan, Tamkang Times】The Office of Student Affairs’ Guidance Section Held the First Semester Graduate Student Representative Meeting in the Chueh-sheng International Conference Hall on December 2nd. In attendance was President Flora Chia-I Chang, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Huan-chao Keh, Vice President of International Affairs, Wan-chin Tai, various first level administrators and students, adding up to over 200 people. Lanyang Campus attended via video conference.

Body Area Network Forum Held at TKU

【Reported by Guo-zhen Wu, Tamkang Times】On December 28th the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering held the Body Area Network Forum and invited Professors from Tohoku University of Japan, Qiang Chen and Qiao-wei Yuan to share their professional experience. There were over 50 teachers and students in attendance that came to listen to the lecture on wireless battery charger applications.

TKU Cooperates With 7-11 For Grade Reports

【Reported by Shi-qing Huang, Tamkang Times】There is no shortage of convenient stores in Taiwan from 7-11, Family Mart and many other varieties. In fact, you can’t walk 5 minutes in any direction, without running into convenient store in Taipei city. They offer a wide range of services aside from from groceries including reserving tickets, travel services and allowing us to pay for our monthly bills. On December 4th TKU and the Ministry of Interior held a press conference for the Promotion of the Citizen Digital Certificate, or smart cards for purchasing convenience.

【Reported by Ya-han Cao, Tamkang Times】Tamkang University’s College of Education’s International Association for Development of the Information Society and Australia’s Curtin University jointly held the 2014 International Conference on Educational Technologies (ICedu Tech) from December 10th to the 12th in the Chueh-sheng International Conference Hall. They presented over 50 dissertations from Europe, America, Australia, Japan, India and Mainland China.
