Ministry of Science and Technology Scholarship List

【Du Huan, Jin-yu Cai, Tamsui Campus Report】Tamkang University’s Office of Research and Development announced the 50 students that will receive academic subsidies from the Ministry of Science and Technology. The number of students approved for the scholarship this year has jumped up 42.50 percent. This scholarship program that was designed to cultivate students in areas of professionalism, innovation and research ability only had a total of 32 students approved last year.

Global Arts Travel Receives Funding

【Tamkang Times】The College of Foreign Languages and Literature’s “Global Arts Travel” was approved for funding by the Ministry of Science and Technology and was awarded 3,010,000 NT. The project was put together by Dean of the College of Foreign Languages and Literature, Hsi-deh Wu and Director of the Library, Sheue-fang Song. Because of the effectiveness of the College of Foreign Languages and Literature’s previous programs, they have received a total of 7,99,005,000 NT from the Ministry of Science and Technology since 2013. This subsidy will be used to strengthen the Departments of English, Spanish, French, German and Japanese.

Graduate Institute of Future Studies Travels to Malaysia to Discuss Future Cities

【Tamkang Times】Assistant professor of the Graduate Institute of Future Studies, Mei-mei Song, attended a workshop in Malaysia from May 31st to June 2nd titled, “Transforming Cities 2030.” The event had three different speakers that emphasized the new trends that would be taking place for city life in the future. 30 representatives from all over the world spoke on how they believed their cities would change by 2030. Mei-mei song explained, “This conference was part of a plan that was set up last March at the UNESCO think tank meeting. By pooling together international academic resources we are able to make more accurate predictions of what the future holds.”

2015 Taiwan Development Association for Classroom and Teaching Research

【Tamkang Times】Graduate Institute of Curriculum and Instruction, Graduate Institute of Educational Policy and Leadership and the Danhai Learning and Development Center jointly held the “2015 Taiwan Development Association for Classroom and Teaching Research” forum. The conference included elementary and junior high teachers along with many educators related to the concept of revolutionary curriculum, totalling to about 300 participants. Also in attendance was General Secretary of Taipei City Government’s Education Bureau, Shun-he Chen, and Director of New Taipei City Government’s Education Bureau in the Department of Research and Development, Chin-shan Liu.
