TKU Visits 3 Sister Schools in Japan

【Tamkang Times】From Mar. 7-10 President Flora Chia-I Chang lead a group of Tamkang University representatives to meet with sister school, Doshisha University, Kindai University and Kansai University in Japan. The group of TKU representatives included Vice President of International Affairs, Wan-chin Tai, Special Assistant Charles Hsiang-chuan Chang, Dean of General Affairs,Shiaw-shyan Chang, Director of the Graduate Institute of Asia Studies, Hsi-hsun Tsai and Director of the Department of Japanese, Yaw-hui Maa.

College of Education Awarded for Student Global Mobility

【Zhao-yu Chen, Tamsui Campus Report】The College of Education was awarded 2,400,000NT in funding by the Ministry of Education (MOE) for the Annual 2016 Promotion of Student Youth Global Mobility and Achievement Display Plan. President Flora Chia-I Chang hosted the opening meeting of the project that took place on Mar. 15 in ED601. The project organizer and Dean of the College of Education, Dian-fu Chang gave a briefing. Vice President of International Affairs, Wan-chin Tai, expressed, “We’ve received confirmation for our internationally-oriented education system and now we will use all of our efforts to promote this meaningful project.”

360 Degrees of Culture at TKU

On Mar. 15 at noon the Black Swan Exhibition Hall held the opening for the 2016 International Student Artifact Display. In attendance was President Flora Chia-I Chang, Vice President of International Affairs, Wan-chin Tai, Dean of the College of Business and Management, Chien-liang Chiu, Dean of the College of Foreign Languages and Literature, Hsiao-chuan Chen, Director of the Office of International and Cross Strait Affairs, Pei-wha Chilee and Director of International Affairs of Shou University, Anna Warangkana Lin.

TKU Fun Team Competition on Saturday

【Kai-jun Lin, Tamsui Campus Report】The Tamkang University 2016 Spring Banquet will take place on Mar. 26 on Tamsui Campus and everyone is welcome to partake in this homecoming event. In the morning at 9am in front of the Statue of Mr. Ching-sheng Chang, President Flora Chia-I Chang will officially start the Team Games Competition, that will involve alumni of every department divided into teams for this fun activity. The competition will consist of fun challenges (dice, darts etc.) and take place in different areas on campus: the University Milestone Statue, Maritime Museum and the Water Dance Plaza.

The Taiwanese Indigenous People Student Resources Center was established

【Zhao-yu Chen, Tamsui Campus Report】In celebration of the establishment of the Taiwanese Indigenous People Student Resources Center on Mar. 1, the Office of Academic Affairs held the Taiwanese Indigenous People Welcome Home event in the Shao-mo Gymnasium. Students and professors from Tamkang University as well as other Junior Colleges were invited to partake in all of the exciting aspects of Taiwanese aboriginal culture, song, dance and beauty. President Flora Chia-I Chang attended the ceremony to encourage students as she expressed her desire to see more native Taiwanese students at TKU in the years to come.

11th Annual Chung-ling Chemistry Competition

【Zhi-yue Jiang, Tamsui Campus Report】On Mar. 12 the Department of Chemistry, TKU Department of Chemistry Development Foundation, TKU Chemistry Alumni, Chinese Chemistry Association, Bulletin of Educational Media Science, Chemistry On the Go, held the 11th Annual Chung-ling Chemistry Competition. There was a total involvement of 38 high schools, 154 teams made up of 462 students. In the end, the Implementation Award was given to Ting-jun Wang, Shao-yi Hu and Chong-hao Zhao of Hsin Chu Science Park National Experimental High School. The school won a total of 7 personal gold medals in the written examination.

Special Guests from Wayne State University

【Jia-wei Min, Tamsui Campus Report】On Mar. 17 and 18 a team of five representatives from Wayne State University lead by Associate Vice President of the Education Outreach and International Programs, Dr.Margaret Winters and her husband Dr. Ahmad M. Ezzeddine came to visit Tamkang University campus. After they visited the Chueh-sheng Memorial Library on the 17th, Vice President of International Affairs, Wan-chin Tai welcomed them and shared a film introducing the TKU campus, history and international achievements.
