The Ministry of Economic Affairs sent a delegation of seven to visit Tamkang University’s Champion Incubator Center at 9:30 am, Monday 29 September. The delegation was escorted by President Chang Horng-jinh, Vice President Flora C.I. Chang, and Prof. Lin Kuang-nan, Director of the Office of Research and Development.
The delegates came from industry, the government, and academia, including officials from the Small and Medium Enterprise Administration, MOEA. They heard the report on the achievements of the Center in the past year and its projects and goals for next year.
A subordinate unit of the Office of Research and Development, the Center is responsible for liaising between academia, the government, and industry. Supported by the University’s staff and teaching resources, the Center helps new enterprises to train personnel, facilitates the development of small businesses, and advises traditional businesses on transformation and upgrading.
The enterprises receiving guidance and assistance from the Center, in turn, provide the University with research funds: the cooperation between business and academia benefits both sides. Currently fifteen companies are involved in the Center’s projects. Representatives from these companies were also present to talk about their cooperation with the Center.
