Industry, Government, Academia Collaborate as Nvidia Jetbot Attracts High School Students from 6 Schools to Compete in Speed Racing
"The Tamkang Cup NVIDIA JETBOT AI Road Recognition Competition" attracts high school students from 6 schools to compete in speed.

The AI Innovative Intelligence College, along with the College of Engineering, the Student Affairs Office, the New Taipei City Youth Development Office, industry leaders such as NVIDIA, Microsoft Taiwan, Far EasTone Telecommunications, AI Alliance, CAVEDU, and outstanding alumni enterprises of Tamkang University including Skywentex International, Sinbon Electronics, and Grand Dynasty Industrial, jointly organized the "Tamkang Cup NVIDIA JETBOT AI Road Recognition Competition" to foster future technology stars through industry-academia collaboration. The event occurred from January 27 to 29 at the Engineering building, with nearly 40 high school students from 6 high schools, including Minglun, Xisong, Guang Fu, DanFeng, Zhong-zheng, and New Taipei, participating.

The 11th Legislative Yuan election was held on January 13 (Saturday). 6 alumni of our university were elected as legislators, including Chien-Ming Ker (Graduate Institute of Management Sciences), Kun-Chi Fu (Department of Transportation Management, Graduate Institute of China Studies), Dr. Chih-Wei Chiu (Graduate Institute of Russian), Dr. Ju-Chun Ko (Department of Information and Communication), Dr. Yi-Feng Hsieh (Department of Civil Engineering, formerly known as Pei-Jung Hsieh), Yu-Ching Kuo (Department of French), and Chiao-Hsin Hsu (currently enrolled in the Executive Master’s Program of International Affairs and Strategic Studies). They assumed office on February 1. Chien-Ming Ker and Kun-Chi Fu serve as the Caucus Conveners for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and the Kuomintang (KMT), respectively.

Colleges of Science, Engineering, and Artificial Innovative Intelligence Join Forces, the Quantum Computing Center Undertakes a Million-dollar Project
Dean Tzung-Hang Lee of the Colleges of Engineering and Artificial Innovative Intelligence and Dean Tzenge-Lien Shih of the College of Science signed a contract with Chairman Andy Chen of Skywentex International for industry-academia cooperation.

The College of Engineering, through its self-raised funds, established the "Center for Advanced Quantum Computing (CAQC)" last semester and is now collaborating across disciplines with the Colleges of Science and Artificial Innovative Intelligence. Deans Tzung-Hang Lee and Tzenge-Lien Shih visited the Golden Eagle alumnus and Chairman of Skywentex International Corp., Andy Chen, on January 12 and signed a contract for industry-academia cooperation. They provided research funding of NT$ 1 million and commissioned the three colleges to conduct a research project on "Theoretical Evaluation of Distributed Quantum Computing Efficiency" this year.

Tamkang University has passed the establishment regulations for the "Center for Astronautics and Space Exploration (CASE)" and plans to establish it in the second semester of the 2023 academic year. In addition to enhancing research capabilities in space technology-related fields, the center will also focus on practical information integration and utilization. This initiative also serves as an external declaration of our university's determination to accelerate space technology development.

On January 29, the Secretariat held the "Handover Ceremony for Secretariat and the Office of Information Services Leadership," involving the handover of the Secretary-General and Director and Editor-in-Chief of Tamkang Times, as well as the handover of the Chief Information Director (CIO) and the Director of the Center for Distance Education Development. Nearly a hundred attendees, including 3 vice presidents, supervisors of relevant units, faculty, and staff, were present at the event.

Director Ben-Hang Chang of the Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center was awarded the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation for FY 2023. He attended the commendation ceremony on January 24, where he received the award from Kazuyuki Katayama, Chief Representative of the Taipei Office of the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association. Also present at the ceremony were Chairperson Flora Chia-I Chang of Tamkang University, Chairman Jia-Chyuan Su of the Taiwan-Japan Relations Association, Kuo-Shu Huang, current legislator, and others.
