Outstanding Educational Performance Recognized: Tamkang University Honored with the Asian Network for Quality Excellence in Quality Practice Award
Tamkang University has been honored with the 2024 Excellence in Quality Practice Award by the Asian Network for Quality. The award was received on behalf of the university by Chief Audit Executive Yen-Ling Lin (right), presented by the conference chairperson, Shu Yamada.

Tamkang University's educational quality is recognized with a world-class award! Recommended by the Chinese Society for Quality (CSQ), our university has passed the evaluation of the 2024 23rd Excellence in Quality Practice Award (ARE-QP) from the Asia Network for Quality (ANQ). The Chief Audit Executive of Tamkang, Prof. Yen-Ling Lin, represented the university and traveled to Keio University in Japan on September 18 to receive the award from the conference chair, Professor Shu Yamada, during the ANQ Annual Conference.

3DFamily Technology Donates AI Imaging Software Worth 40 Million NTD, Hakiem Hsu Encourages Students to Enhance Competitiveness
Vice President for Academic Affairs Hui-Huang Hsu expressed his gratitude in his speech to 3DFamily Technology Chairman Hakiem Hsu (third from the right) for donating AI software worth 40 million NTD, benefiting both faculty and students.

The College of Business and Management received strong support from 3DFamily Technology Co., Ltd., which donated 100 sets of VisLab AI image modeling software valued at over NT$40 million. The donation ceremony took place on September 20 at Hsu Shou-Chien International Conference Center. 3DFamily Technology Chairman Hakiem Hsu hoped that Tamkang students would fully use AI tools to enhance practical applications. Attendees included Vice President for Academic Affairs Hui-Huang Hsu, Dean of the College of Business and Management Li-Ren Yang, department chairs, EMBA Executive Director Chia-Chi Sun, Dean of Financial Affairs Ku-Jun Lin, and directors of various research centers, all expressing their gratitude to Hakiem Hsu for his generous donation.

Professor Chih-Hsin Chen, Chair of the Department of Chemistry, has achieved remarkable research success. Following the receipt of the 2020 NSTC Future Technology Award, multiple invention patents in Taiwan, and the Gold Medal at the 2023 Taiwan Innotech Expo, he secured a grant of NT$5.4 million this August from the NSTC 2024 2nd batch Germination Program for his project "Real-time Monitoring System for Gaseous Molecular Contaminants in Semiconductor Manufacturing Processes." This is the first project from Tamkang University to receive funding under this program. The team developed a flexible, cost-effective, real-time monitoring system tailored to semiconductor manufacturing processes. They also invited Professor Yang-Han Lee from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as a co-principal investigator and plan to establish a startup next year, using innovative trace gas detection technology to open new markets and offer cutting-edge solutions for the semiconductor industry.

The opening ceremony of the 2024 Formosa International Poetry Festival in Tamsui and the "Sustainable Home” Art Exhibition was held on September 20 at the Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center of Tamkang University. This year marks the 9th edition of the event, co-hosted by Tamkang University, the Movimiento Poetas del Mundo, the Tamsui Cultural Foundation, the Zhongliao Community Development Association, and the Tamsui Community University. It is co-organized by 14 organizations, including the Tamsui District Office, Tamkang University's College of Foreign Languages and Literatures, and the Chueh-Sheng Memorial Library. Nearly 100 attendees participated, including Prof. Yi-Ti Lin, Dean of the College of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Tamsui District Executive Bing Chung Chen, Tamsui Cultural Foundation Chairperson Hui-Ming Hsu, Vice President of the Movimiento Poetas del Mundo Oscar René Benitez, along with several participating poets and artists.

International Affairs Office Hosts Mid-Autumn Festival Gathering for International Students
The Office of International Affairs hosted the "2024 Mid-Autumn Festival Cultural Celebration for International Students," inviting them to experience the Mid-Autumn traditions.

To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and allow international students to experience the festive atmosphere and understand the culture of the holiday, the International and Cross-Strait Affairs Office’s International Student Guidance Section held the "2024 Mid-Autumn Festival Cultural Celebration for International Students" on September 16 on the 10th floor of the Ching-Sheng Memorial Building. The event invited international students from the university to join the celebration, offering pomelos and 250 mooncakes for participants to enjoy.

2024 Second World University Web Rankings: Tamkang University Maintains Top Spot Among Non-Medical Private Schools
In the "World University Web Rankings" released this September, Tamkang University maintained its position as the top non-medical private university in Taiwan.

The results of the second edition of the 2024 "Webometrics Rankings of World Universities" (WRWU) were announced in early September (2024.2 version). Tamkang University ranked 1,087th globally and 287th in Asia, slightly declining from the previous period (details in the table). However, our national ranking remains steady, placing 13th overall and 4th among private universities while maintaining the top spot among non-medical private universities. Since 2007, our university has consistently performed well, achieving the private university championship for the 34th time.

Associate Professor Chia-Jwu Tai from the General Education and Core Curriculum Center recently led a team on an in-depth study tour to Italy, visiting several Roman churches to explore their artistic works. On September 5, the group visited H.E. Matthew S.M. Lee, Taiwan's Ambassador to the Holy See, to share their insights from the tour and discuss European art history. The conversation was lively, and A.P. Tai was especially pleased to meet alumni of Tamkang University abroad, including Minister Jun-Rong Huang and Counsellor Chia-Wei Li.

Lively Club Expo: Over 100 Booths Compete with Creativity to Attract New Members
The Club Recruitment Expo kicked off on September 5 with a lively atmosphere along Poster Street and in front of the library.

To help first-year students quickly immerse themselves in a vibrant club life, the Extracurricular Activities Guidance Section held the Club Recruitment Expo on September 5-6 and 9-12 along Poster Street and in front of the Chueh-Sheng Memorial Library. A total of 106 clubs participated, putting forth their best efforts despite the hot weather and showcasing their unique characteristics to recruit new members to join them in pursuing their passions.
