2025 WIN Contemporary Accounting Paper Award Symposium — Duke University’s Prof. Schipper Delivers Keynote, Inspiring New Perspectives

The “2025 Win Semiconductor Contemporary Accounting Paper Award” Symposium, co-organized by the Tamkang Accounting Education Foundation (Taipei) and the Department of Accounting of Tamkang University, was held on October 18 at Tamkang University’s Taipei Campus. The symposium featured 47 academic papers, covering topics such as ESG, auditing, corporate governance, artificial intelligence, tax policy, and financial performance. Attendees included President Huan-Chao Keh, Win Semiconductors Chairman Chin-Tsai Chen, Director and General Manager of Corporate Business and Operations Shun-Ping Chen, Dean Li-Ren Yang of the College of Business and Management, Foundation CEO Chen-Feng Huang, Contemporary Accounting journal publisher Hsin-Hui Yen, and the editorial team, along with experts, professors, and students from across Taiwan.

Guidance Section Partners with Multiple Organizations to Promote a Friendly Campus and Create a Safe Learning Environment

On October 14 at 10 a.m., the Guidance Section held a Friendly Campus Awareness Event at the pedestrian zone in front of the College of Liberal Arts Building, under the theme “Stop! Look! Listen! Let’s Tune in to a Harmonious and Friendly Campus!” The event was jointly promoted with the Tamsui Precinct and the Women and Children Protection Brigade of the New Taipei City Police Department, the New Taipei City Fire Department and Health Department, and R.P.M. Co., Ltd. Through a variety of interactive booths and hands-on experiences, the event aimed to help participants understand the importance of campus safety and moral education in a relaxed and engaging setting.

The Department of Accounting of the College of Business and Management held a Tamkang Clement and Carrie Chair Lecture, inviting Prof. Katherine Schipper, Thomas Keller Professor of Business Administration at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, as the keynote speaker. Faculty members and students took a group photo together after the lecture.

On the afternoon of October 16, the Department of Accounting of the College of Business and Management hosted a Tamkang Clement and Carrie Chair Lecture at the Hsu Shou-Chlien International Conference Center, inviting Prof. Katherine Schipper, Thomas Keller Professor of Business Administration at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, to deliver a lecture titled “What Do We Know about Materiality?” She explored the pivotal role of materiality in financial reporting and assurance processes, providing an in-depth analysis of its dual functions, empirical findings, and the extended challenges of ESG reporting.

On October 16, Tamkang University Board Chairperson Flora Chia-I Chang received the Individual Award at the 11th Asia-Pacific Futures Network (APFN) Annual Conference held at TKU, in recognition of her outstanding leadership and contributions in advancing future literacy across the Asia-Pacific region. The two-day conference, held at the Hsu Shou-Chlien International Conference Center, drew 130 scholars, including 113 international participants, for an inspiring exchange of global futures thinking in Tamsui.

Tsuda University, Tamkang University’s Japanese sister school, celebrated its 125th founding anniversary on October 12. Tamkang University was honored as the only overseas sister university invited to the celebration. TKU President Huan-Chao Keh, accompanied by Vice President for International Affairs Hsiao-Chuan Chen and Department of Japanese Chair Pei-Ching Tsai, attended the festivities, which included a memorial ceremony for founder Umeko Tsuda, the 125th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony, and the 15th Umeko Tsuda Award Presentation in the morning, followed by an afternoon commemorative lecture and a welcome reception. During the reception, President Keh presented a commemorative gift, which was accepted on behalf of Tsuda University by Chairperson Seiichi Shimada of the Board of Directors.
