College of Education Partners with University of Osaka to Advance Cross-Border Collaboration on Future Research and Social Innovation
Associate Professor Yuya Nishimura of the University of Osaka (right 2nd) led colleagues to Taiwan to engage in exchanges with faculty and students of the College of Education.

Experts in social innovation and futures studies from the University of Osaka, Associate Professor Yuya Nishimura, who also serves as Representative Director of NPO Miratuku, and colleague Kumi Naruse visited Tamkang University on the morning of March 11 to engage in academic exchanges with faculty and students from the College of Education. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on futures studies methodologies and AI applications in education, reaching a preliminary consensus on international collaboration. Both parties expressed their intention to further formalize cooperation through the signing of an MOU, paving the way for more substantial and in-depth academic partnerships.

Onomichi High School Study Group from Japan Visits Tamkang University, Fostering Cross-Cultural Exchange with Local Student Partners
A group of teachers and students from Onomichi High School in Japan visited the university on March 4 for a short-term study program. The opening ceremony was held in the lobby on the 10th floor of the Ching-Sheng Building.

Chairman Haruhiko Kato, Principal Takasuke Yamamoto, teachers Oebesu Mitsuhiro, Masao Takahashi, and Willems Grant, along with 23 students from Onomichi High School in Japan, visited Tamkang University from March 4 to 8 for a short-term study program. The opening ceremony was held at 6:00 p.m. on March 4 in the lobby on the 10th floor of the Ching-Sheng Building, hosted by Kuan-Jung Chen, Project Manager of the Chinese Language Center. Vice President for International Affairs Hsiao-Chuan Chen, Dean of International Affairs Chien-Mu Yeh, and Director of the Chinese Language Center Hsiang-Hua Chou were also in attendance.

Po-Shen Pan’s Boron Compound Patent Licensed to Genhealth Pharma to Advance New Cancer Drug Development
The patented technology developed by the research team led by Chemistry Professor Po-Shen Pan has been granted patents in both Taiwan and the United States, and has been successfully licensed to Genhealth Pharma.

A patented technology jointly developed by Chemistry Professor Po-Shen Pan, Chemistry alumnus Shuo-Pei Chiu, and physician Yi-Wei Chen of Taipei Veterans General Hospital has recently been successfully licensed to Genhealth Pharma with support from the University’s Office of Research and Development. The transferred technology, titled “Method for Preparing Tetraboronic Compounds and Tetraboronic Compounds,” will serve as the foundation for an upcoming industry–academia collaboration aimed at developing boron-containing drugs for cancer treatment.

Members of the Kyushu–Taiwan Visionary Institute (KTVI), led by Representative Director Naoki Kumamoto, visited Taiwan on March 6 to co-host a one-day “Japan–Taiwan Co-creation Workshop” with Tamkang University’s College of Artificial Innovative Intelligence. The event marked the kickoff activity of KTVI’s 2026 “Next-Generation Leadership Development Program.”

On March 11 at 3:30 p.m., President Huan-Chao Keh led a delegation of three vice presidents and several senior administrators to visit AMD Taiwan to exchange views on future cooperation.

Department Expo Draws Over a Thousand as Students “Chase the Light” at Tamkang University
At the “Chasing the Light: 2026 Tamkang University Department Expo,” Academic Vice President Hui-Huang Hsu introduced Tamkang University’s educational philosophy and distinctive features.

“Explore Departments, Discover the Future, Tamkang ‘Chasing the Light’ with You!” On March 7 at 1:00 p.m., the Office of Academic Affairs held the “Chasing the Light: 2026 Tamkang University Department Expo” on the Tamsui campus. High school students and parents were invited to explore the University through department booths, campus tours, and on-site college visits, gaining a deeper understanding of Tamkang’s learning environment and academic offerings. The event attracted over a thousand participants.

Under the witness of Minister of Education Ying-Yao Cheng, Tamkang University signed MOUs on the morning of March 4 with six leading global enterprises—Microsoft Taiwan, AMD Taiwan, Far EasTone Telecommunications, and the Big Three accounting firms PwC, EY, and KPMG—forming a strategic alliance to advance in-depth industry–academia collaboration. In his remarks, Cheng praised Tamkang’s achievements in AI and sustainability and thanked the six enterprises for investing resources to help bridge the gap between academic learning and industry needs. Following the signing ceremony, Minister of Environment Chi-Ming Peng led keynote speeches and discussions with industry leaders on green growth strategies, smart city visions, and corporate competitiveness in the AI era.

Nobel Laureate Arthur B. McDonald Discusses Unlocking the Mysteries of the Universe Through International Collaboration
The Department of Physics hosted a Panda Lecture featuring Nobel Prize in Physics laureate Arthur B. McDonald, Director of the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory Institute in Canada, as the keynote speaker.

Following the visit of 1999 Nobel Prize in Physics laureate Gerardus ’t Hooft, the Department of Physics once again hosted a distinguished Panda Lecture on March 9 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chang Yeo Lan Hall of the Hsu Shou-Chlien International Conference Center. The lecture featured 2015 Nobel Prize in Physics laureate and Queen’s University professor, as well as Director of the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory Institute, Prof. Arthur B. McDonald. He delivered a lecture titled “Answering Existential Questions About Our Universe and Its Evolution.” The event was also livestreamed and attracted more than 310 faculty members, students, and researchers from both within and outside the university.
