Belize Ambassador Meighan Delivers Lecture, Broadening Tamkang Diplomacy Students' Global Perspectives

H.E. Katherine Vanessa Meighan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belize to the Republic of China, visited Tamkang University on June 8 at the invitation of Associate Professor Chin-Mo Cheng of the Department of Diplomacy and International Relations' English-Taught Bachelor's Program. As part of the Diplomatic Decision-Making course, Ambassador Meighan delivered a lecture entitled "Discovering Belize."

International Students Celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival with Rice Dumplings and Taiwanese Traditions
Tamkang University's International Student Guidance Section hosted the Dragon Boat Festival Rice Dumpling Celebration cultural experience on June 10 in the lobby on the 10th floor of the Ching-Sheng Memorial Building, inviting international students to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival by tasting traditional rice dumplings.

To introduce international students to Taiwan's traditional festivals and cultural heritage, the International Student Guidance Section of Tamkang University's Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs hosted the "Dragon Boat Festival Rice Dumpling Celebration" at noon on June 10 in the lobby on the 10th floor of the Ching-Sheng Memorial Building. The event welcomed international students from around the world to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival together. Vice President for International Affairs Hsiao-Chuan Chen and Dean of International Affairs Chien-Mu Yeh also joined the celebration, sharing the festive atmosphere with students.

International Students Showcase Eswatini and Indonesian Cultures, Broadening Global Perspectives on Campus

To deepen campus internationalization and promote cross-cultural understanding, Tamkang University's Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs has long organized the "International Cultural Kaleidoscope" series. In addition to inviting international students to share the cultures of their home countries on campus, the program also encourages them to engage with local communities and promote international exchange. On May 22, the Tamkang University Indonesian Student Association (TKUISA) visited Xinxing Elementary School in New Taipei City to introduce Indonesian culture through interactive activities. On May 28, an international student from Eswatini shared the history and traditions of one of Taiwan's diplomatic allies in Africa with faculty members, staff, and students on campus.

2026 International Student Career Fair Helps Students Explore Career Opportunities in Taiwan
Tamkang University's Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs hosted the 2026 International Student Career Fair on May 29, where faculty members, students, and corporate representatives enthusiastically posed for a group photo holding SDGs placards.

To support international students in pursuing careers in Taiwan and facilitate their transition into the workforce, Tamkang University's Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs hosted the 2026 International Student Career Fair at 12:10 p.m. on May 29 in the Black Swan Exhibition Hall. The event brought together 12 companies to recruit talent, offering a wide range of employment opportunities and career information to help students better understand industry trends and prepare for their future careers.

3 Tamkang Students and Alumni Selected for OCAC Taiwan Youth and Overseas Expatriate Bridging Program to Promote Taiwan This Summer

Three members of the Tamkang University community—French Section alumna Yu-Hsuan Kuo of the Department of European Languages, senior student To-Hsien Geng, and sophomore Lan Ching-Wen from the Department of Diplomacy and International Relations—have been selected for the Overseas Community Affairs Council's (OCAC) 2026 Taiwan Youth and Overseas Expatriate Bridging Program. As Youth Ambassadors, they will travel overseas beginning in late June to promote Taiwan's international image and strengthen connections with overseas Taiwanese communities in Paris, France, and Chicago, United States.

EU Diplomats Gather in Tamsui to Experience the Hobe Banquet, Rekindling the Legacy of the Sino-French War Through Academic Diplomacy
EU Diplomats in Taiwan embarked on a cultural cruise along the Tamsui River, visiting the historic site of the Sino-French War and posing for a commemorative group photo upon disembarking.

The Center for European Union Studies at Tamkang University, together with the University Social Responsibility (USR) project "From Tamsui to the World: Promoting Taiwan's Most Influential Cultural Tours and Signature Banquets" (hereafter the Tour & Banquet Project), hosted the "Hobe European Cultural Feast" on June 12. The event welcomed representatives, commercial officers, and scholars from the European Economic and Trade Office (EETO) and more than ten European countries, including the Czech Republic, France, Belgium, Poland, and the Netherlands. Guests gathered at the Fullon Hotel Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf to experience the "Hobe Banquet 1002 – French Naval Bombardment," a themed dining experience jointly developed by the USR project team and the Fullon Hotel. Through an innovative culinary interpretation of history, the event created a unique platform for cultural and academic diplomacy.

Preparing Students for Overseas Exchange & Internship, Wei-Ting Wang Emphasizes Cross-Cultural Safety Awareness
The College of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Tamkang University held a seminar on June 2 in FL106, featuring Assistant Professor Wei-Ting Wang from the Department of English, who shared insights on gender boundaries in cross-cultural interactions, self-protection in the workplace, and strategies for preventing and responding to sexual harassment.

As many junior students prepare for overseas exchange programs and international internships, they often encounter ambiguous workplace boundaries and cultural differences when entering multinational companies, translation agencies, or educational settings. To enhance gender equality awareness and promote a safer learning and internship environment, the College of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Tamkang University held a gender equality seminar on June 2 in FL106. The seminar was presented by Assistant Professor Wei-Ting Wang of the Department of English, who shared insights on gender boundaries in cross-cultural interactions, workplace self-protection, and teachers' responsibilities in reporting incidents of sexual harassment.

Professor Ben-Hang Chang, Director of the Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center and Professor in the Department of Chinese Literature at Tamkang University, was recently awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette by the Government of Japan. An investiture ceremony was held at 11:30 a.m. on June 16 at the Okura Prestige Taipei Hotel, where Kazuyuki Katayama, Chief Representative of the Japan–Taiwan Exchange Association Taipei Office, presented the medal and certificate to Chang in recognition of his longstanding dedication to the art of calligraphy and his contributions to cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Japan. Among those attending the ceremony were Tamkang University President Huan-Chao Keh, Chairperson Flora Chia-I Chang, Director-General of the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Lan-Sheng Wang, Kuo Hua Golf Chairman Liu-Lienlien Ho, soprano Susie Chien, and entertainers Bingbing Pai and Lie Yang. Former Premier Si-Kun You and former Democratic Progressive Party Secretary-General Kuo-Yung Hsu were invited to deliver congratulatory remarks.

The Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs of Tamkang University held the 2026 International Student Graduation Ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on June 4 in the Chang Yeo Lan International Conference Hall of the Hsu Shou-Chlien International Conference Center. Vice President for International Affairs Hsiao-Chuan Chen, Dean of International Affairs Chien-Mu Yeh, faculty members from various colleges and departments, and more than 200 family members attended the event to celebrate the achievements of 146 international graduates from around the world as they completed their studies and embarked on a new chapter in life. The ceremony not only marked the culmination of their academic journeys but also symbolized their readiness to step onto a broader international stage with the courage and knowledge they gained in Taiwan.

Tamkang University held its 2026 Commencement Ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on June 6 on the 7th floor of the Shao-mo Memorial Gymnasium. More than 3,300 graduates, faculty members, parents, and distinguished guests from various colleges, departments, and graduate institutes gathered to celebrate the occasion. The ceremony opened with dynamic performances by the Competitive Cheerleading Team and the Dance Club. This year’s theme, “AI+SDGs=∞, ESG+AI=∞, A Favorite Among Employers,” symbolized the Tamkang spirit of harnessing intelligence and sustainability to create limitless opportunities for the future.
