EU Diplomats Gather in Tamsui to Experience the Hobe Banquet, Rekindling the Legacy of the Sino-French War Through Academic Diplomacy
The Center for European Union Studies at Tamkang University, together with the University Social Responsibility (USR) project "From Tamsui to the World: Promoting Taiwan's Most Influential Cultural Tours and Signature Banquets" (hereafter the Tour & Banquet Project), hosted the "Hobe European Cultural Feast" on June 12. The event welcomed representatives, commercial officers, and scholars from the European Economic and Trade Office (EETO) and more than ten European countries, including the Czech Republic, France, Belgium, Poland, and the Netherlands. Guests gathered at the Fullon Hotel Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf to experience the "Hobe Banquet 1002 – French Naval Bombardment," a themed dining experience jointly developed by the USR project team and the Fullon Hotel. Through an innovative culinary interpretation of history, the event created a unique platform for cultural and academic diplomacy.

Ben-Hang Chang Awarded Japan’s Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, in Recognition of Advancing Taiwan–Japan Exchanges
Professor Ben-Hang Chang, Director of the Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center and Professor in the Department of Chinese Literature at Tamkang University, was recently awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette by the Government of Japan. An investiture ceremony was held at 11:30 a.m. on June 16 at the Okura Prestige Taipei Hotel, where Kazuyuki Katayama, Chief Representative of the Japan–Taiwan Exchange Association Taipei Office, presented the medal and certificate to Chang in recognition of his longstanding dedication to the art of calligraphy and his contributions to cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Japan. Among those attending the ceremony were Tamkang University President Huan-Chao Keh, Chairperson Flora Chia-I Chang, Director-General of the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Lan-Sheng Wang, Kuo Hua Golf Chairman Liu-Lienlien Ho, soprano Susie Chien, and entertainers Bingbing Pai and Lie Yang. Former Premier Si-Kun You and former Democratic Progressive Party Secretary-General Kuo-Yung Hsu were invited to deliver congratulatory remarks.

Tamkang University held its 2026 Commencement Ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on June 6 on the 7th floor of the Shao-mo Memorial Gymnasium. More than 3,300 graduates, faculty members, parents, and distinguished guests from various colleges, departments, and graduate institutes gathered to celebrate the occasion. The ceremony opened with dynamic performances by the Competitive Cheerleading Team and the Dance Club. This year’s theme, “AI+SDGs=∞, ESG+AI=∞, A Favorite Among Employers,” symbolized the Tamkang spirit of harnessing intelligence and sustainability to create limitless opportunities for the future.
