WELCOMING 8209 FRESHMEN TO TKU:

According to the reception announcement of college joint entrance exam, there are totally 8209 new students accepted to TKU. Among 6093 undergraduates, 3549 students are examined by the appointed-subjects-exam (including 200 to the Lanyang Campus), others are screened through the processes of application or recommendation. In addition, there are 1581 graduates, and 535 two-year technology college students.

NEW ADMINISTRATORS TAKING POSITIONS ON AUGUST 1ST

Adding new aspects to the new school year, four new departments and two colleges in Lanyang Campus, and a new research institute—Center for Tibetan Studies—get started since this semester. Besides, six first-level educational administrators, fifteen departmental heads, eight second-level administrators change positions. 247 JUNIORS TO STUDY ABROAD FOR THE 2005 ACADEMIC YEAR

In the 2005 academic year, there are totally 247 TKU juniors studying abroad in TKU’s sister schools for one year. Among them, 49 are exchange students. The flag-presentation ceremony for junior abroad students, hosted by Founder Dr. Clement C. P. Chang and President Flora C. I. Chang, was held on August 18, 2005, at Chueh Sheng International Conference Hall.

36 STUDENTS GRANTED BY NSC FOR RESEARCH PROJECTS

Chih-ping Wu, junior of Dept. of Chemistry, and 35 other students were granted by National Science Council for the 2005 School Year “College Students Research Projects”, each with 32,000 NT dollars scholarship and 15,000 NT research fund.

FOOTBALL ROBOTS WON EXCELLENCE PRIZE IN MOE COMPETITION

With the project of “The Design and Practice of FIRA 3 on 3 Football Robot,” Dept. of Electrical Engineering won the Excellence Prize in the 2004 School Year competition of

11 EXCHANGE STUDENTS FROM WASEDA UNIVERSITY AT JAPAN TOUR-STUDIES AT TKU

11 exchange students from Waseda University at Japan visited TKU for the first time during this summer for tour studying. They stayed at Tamsui Campus for three weeks (from August 8 to 27). The opening ceremony, hosted by Vice President of Academic Affair, Dr. Feng Chao-kang, was held on August 8 at Ching Sheng International Conference Hall.
