8 STUDENT CLUBS SHARING HAPPINESS IN COUNTRY SIDE SERVICES THIS SUMMER

During the summer time, the Chorus group with other 7 students clubs went respectively to Taipei county, Nantou, Tainan, Changhua, Hsinchu, to do community services. Tsai Chen-huei, sophomore of Civil Engineering department and member of Entertainment and Service Club, surprisingly won the favor by all children when they happily put stickers of favor on his face. Likewise, he even received text messages from a little girl, saying “brother Chen-huei, will you come again next year?”

TAMKANG TIMES HELD A CONFERENCE FOR CORRESPONDENTS TO BETTER THEIR SPECIALTY

On Sept. 10 and 11, Tamkang Times held a conference for correspondents, in which many well-known media people were invited to instruct TKU reporters to better their writing skills.

TKU SUCCESSFULLY DEVELOPS NEW AUTOMATIC READING MACHINE

The new automatic reading machine, developed by the cooperation between local company and TKU Center of Resources for the Blind (CRFB), has been available in the market since this September. Compared to the imported automatic reading machine that costs more than 100,000 NT Dollars, this new invention only charges 15,000 NT Dollars. CRFB presented this new product at the “Results Presentation of Information-for-Visually-Impaired Research,” held at Taipei campus on August 30. The Center also invited alumnus Dr. Chen Kuo-shih, the first blind person who got doctoral degree in Taiwan, to operate this machine.

The Seminar for New Teachers of the 2005 Academic Year was held on September 9, 2005, at Ching Sheng International Conference Hall. “This year is the 55th anniversary of Tamkang University.
