Afong Chen and Yi-ci Wu are Chosen for Young Ambassadors to the Middle East and South Africa

【Reported by Bo-xian Lu, Tamkang Times】Alumni of the Department of Japanese, Afong Chen, and second year student of the Department of French, Yi-ci Wu, were selected for the Youth Ambassadors to the Middle East and South Africa. They were selected among 128 individuals who attended a summer training camp for young ambassadors. In September they were sent to Africa for an exchange, introducing Taiwanese culture to the international world. Everyone is welcome to show their support or find more information at link:

The Large Bumble MIT Wins Robotic Smart Arm Competition

【Reported by Min-hua Wu, Tamkang Times】The final match of the 7th Annual Robotic Smart Arm Competition took place at the Nangang Exhibition Center. Professors of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Ching-chong Wong and Chi-yi Tsai lead the Robotics Research Team and once again performed with flying colors. The team received four different awards, adding to a sum total of 800,000 NT in prize money. This year’s competition has brought great honor and recognition to TKU’s department of Electrical Engineering.

The Campus Receives a Makeover
The remodelling included professional outdoor courts, well-lit walkways, female dormitory, and brick passageway.

【Reported by Hui-ping Liu, Tamkang Times】For the summer break, Tamkang University has been putting its focus on the development of the College of Liberal Arts, the female dormitory and the areas around the Five Tiger Hills. The areas being constructed around the Five Tiger Hills include a new basketball court, tennis court and other student recreational facilities. It has also been estimated that this year they will be able to hold an official ceremony for the beginning construction of the Shou Chien International Conference Center.

The performances were made by the cheerleaders, Beat Box club, Choir club, dance teams and many more. The air was electrified as President Flora emphasized the eight factors of development emphasized at TKU: global vision, future insight, applicable information, morale conduct, independent thinking, fitness, teamwork, and appreciation of aesthetics.

TKU Makes Academic Industry Alliance Agreement with Foxlink

【Reported by Yi-ling Huang, Jin-yu Cai, Tamkang Times】The Academic Industry Alliance has once again raised the stakes! On July 21st, Tamkang University invited 200 enterprises to sign an agreement, symbolizing a new relationship of mutually beneficial networking opportunities in the near future. On August 11th TKU signed another academic industry agreement with Foxlink to expand the market of digital calligraphy from the coasts of Taiwan to the coasts of China. This agreement will create a structured platform, utilizing higher-learning resources to develop brilliant students that will preserve this traditional art form.

【Reported by Xin-yu Wang, Tamkang Times】Last August 24th the World Alumni Vancouver Convention took place where 200 TKU alumni gathered together from all over the world. The event began with an opening speech made by President Flora Chia-I Chang, as she laid out the details of the university’s current situation, recent achievements and future plans. This summit is held every two years and is always productive and heartfelt.
