A Three-Day Demonstration Show Will be Held at the Main Library for OPEN Users

A demonstration aimed at enlightening students to utilize Official Publication Echo Network system (OPEN) will be held at Room 30l for three days in the Main Library, Tamkang University.

In response to the 9/11 terrorist attack on the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, and the British/American retribution air strike on Afghanistan earlier October, the Association of International Relationship invited Prof. Andy W.Y. Chang, Director of Graduate Institute of China Studies, to give a talk on the impact of such an incident on the world in general and the economic/political change over China in particular.

Student Evaluation System Subject to Change Soon in Tamkang

The Student Evaluation (Grading) system which has had a proud tradition of more than 30 years in Tamkang University may be subject to change as proposals submitted by faculty of College of Sciences are being considered by proper authorities.

The German Scholars/Teachers Will Hold the l0th General Convention at Tamkang University

The German Scholars/Teachers Association is scheduled to hold its l0th Convention between October 20 (Saturday) and 2l (Sunday) at the International Conference Room, Ching Sheng Memorial Hall. Meanwhile, a seminar on the topic of translation as well as the cultural polarity of East and West will also be underway. Scholars from the host university Tamkang, Tai Ta, Cheng Ta, Fu Jen, Tung Wu, Wen Hua and Kaohsiung Technology U. will attend the Convention and read their research papers. Dignitaries scheduled to address the Convention include Pres. Chang Horng-jinh of T.K.U., Prof. Lin Yao-fu, Dean, College of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Frau Sabine Hagemann, Director, German Cultural Center in Taiwan and Prof. Reinhard Duessel, Chair, Department of German, T.K.U., and a host of others.

According to the figure released by Office of Academic Affairs, up till last Thursday, October 11, the enrolment rate of the undergraduates at T.K.U. reaches 96.27%; the rate of graduate students, however, dwindles to a dismal 75.83%. This situation has induced Pres. Chang Horng-jinh to declare, “If this trend continues, we may consider to call a stop to recruit new students in certain institutes and give permission to install some new ones instead.”

A Seminar on the Different Role-taking of Commanding Supervisors at Various Leveled

The 90th School Year Pedagogical/Administrative Renovation Seminar will be held between October l9 (Friday, l:00 P.M.) and 20 (Saturday, 11:25 A.M.) Dr. Clement C.P. Chang, Founder of T.K.U., will lend his presence to the seminar. In the meantime, it will also be supervised by Pres. Chang Horng-jinh, Dr. Feng Chao-kang, V.P. for Academic Affairs and Dr. Flora C.I. Chang, V.P. for Administrative Affairs. All the leading officials and directors of senior/junior offices on the teaching and administrative levels are scheduled to attend this oncoming seminar.

T.K.U. alumni/ae, as may be expected, figure forth prominently in every year’s festive activities. A founding conference on the Library Congress of T.K.U. Alumni/ae in Greater Taipei area, a 30-year Reunion of Business Administration/Banking and Insurance/International Trade majors, a Convention of Alumni/ae Association in Taiwan and a Convention of Worldwide Alumni/ae will all be held on that special day.
