TKU Hosts Calligraphy Contests to Preserve Tradition and Culture

【Pin-jie Chen, Zhao-yu Chen, Tamsui Campus Report】The Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center and the Republic of China Calligraphy Society jointly held the 2015 Global Traditional Chinese Calligraphy Competition, attracting calligraphy lovers from all over. This contest categorized the competitors into two groups: calligraphy and writing characters, containing a total of 8000 pieces. On Dec. 19 the Vice President Den-yih Wu attended the award ceremony at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and prizes were presented for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. All of the winning art pieces are stored in Tamkang University’s Calligraphy Research Room.

Christmas Celebrations Warm up Campus

【Kai-jun Lin, Hui-ping Liu, Wan-xuan Qin, Shi-qing Huang, Jia-ling Liu, Tamsui Campus Report】Last week was Christmas and various Tamkang University departments came together in celebration. On Dec. 24 the College of Foreign Languages and Literature held a Christmas party on the first floor of the Foreign Language Building. In attendance was President Flora Chia-I Chang, Dean of the Office of Student Affairs, Huan-chao Keh, Dean of the College of Foreign Languages and Literature, Hsiao-chuan Chen and around 100 teachers and students. President Chang expressed, “Let us celebrate the spirit of Christmas with our warmest feelings.”

【 Kai-jun Lin, Pin-jie Chen, Tamsui Campus Report】Recently assessors completed a full evaluation of educational resources and materials of every department of the university, giving Tamkang University a passing grade for each one. Afterwards President Flora Chia-I Chang and the three university vice presidents paid a visit to each department as part of the annual discussion for future development and methods of improvement, emphasising the importance of highlighting the uniqueness of each field. President Chang expressed that the departments and curriculums remain the heartbeat of the university.

Ready, Set, 66th TKU Anniversary!

【Tamkang TImes】In order to make the 66th anniversary of Tamkang University a special one, the Event Preparatory Committee held a conference in the Chueh-sheng International Conference Hall. Lanyang and Taipei Campus attended the meeting via video conference. The Event Preparatory Committee Director and President of the University, Flora Chia-I Chang was in attendance and invited Director of the Tamkang University Worldwide Federation, Dr. Loo Soon, Director of the TKU Alumni Association, Ding-chuan Chen and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the TKU Retiree Alumni Association, Yun-shan Lin.
