Flotrend Donates Siemens Taiwan CFD Software to Tamkang to Help Nurture Smart and Sustainable Industry Talent

Flotrend Technology donated CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software to Tamkang University, which was developed by Siemens Industry Software Taiwan Company, with a total value exceeding 70 million US dollars. The donation ceremony was held at 11:00 AM on January 10 in the lobby on the 3rd floor of Hsu Shou-Chlien International Conference Center. Under the observation of representatives from both companies and several of our school's executives, President Huan-Chao Keh jointly signed with Flotrend Technology General Manager Chong-Mao Chen and Siemens Industry Software Taiwan General Manager Howard Chen. President Keh delivered a speech thanking Taiwan Siemens Software and Flotrend Technology for their support and expressed his hope for more diversified and in-depth cooperation with both companies.

The CFD software covers advanced tools in multiple fields including fluid dynamics, thermal management, and electromagnetic simulation, and can be widely applied in various industrial scenarios. President Keh stated that these resources will provide students with a practical application platform for advanced technology, helping them shorten the adaptation period when entering the high-tech industry. He further explained, "Using the software is digital transformation," which can accelerate the achievement of sustainable development goals and is the best interpretation of our school's strategic direction, "AI+SDGs=∞." "Everyone thinks that the most international language is English, but actually, the most international language is programming language." President Keh believes that the talents cultivated using this software can best connect internationally, "Tamkang University is committed to nurturing the talents needed for these smart and sustainable digital industries."

Representing Siemens, both Taiwan General Manager Howard Chen and Digital Industries Software Asia-Pacific Solutions Partner Sales Vice President Jennifer Lim stated that they are pleased to see that through their platinum-level partner Flotrend Technology’s software donation, they can jointly cultivate talents needed by the industry. Lim delivered her speech in English, emphasizing the importance of this partnership with Tamkang University and expressing her expectation that it will endow the academic community with the most advanced technology and tools, continuously fostering invention and innovation. "The only reason Siemens, a company with 177 years of history, can succeed is because we believe that academia is the future. Without students and the faculty and staff you nurture, we would not be able to contribute to society." Howard Chen also mentioned that this time, the donated CFD product package consists entirely of advanced products with AI capabilities and suggested that related courses could be introduced in the Departments of Information to cultivate more advanced talents.

"Our company is one of Tamkang University's biggest consumers," responded Flotrend Technology General Manager Chung-Mao Chen to President Keh's comments on talent cultivation. "Half of our PhDs, and one-third of our 50 engineers, come from Tamkang University." He pointed out that Flotrend Technology has been focusing on laptop cooling, mobile phone performance degradation, automobile side-impact testing, and even the currently most popular AI Server cooling analysis for more than ten years, and is now the largest CFD team in Asia-Pacific. "We welcome Tamkang students to join this field."

Facilitating this donation, the dean of the Colleges of Engineering, Artificial Innovative Intelligence, and Precision Healthcare, Professor Tzung-Hang Lee, pointed out that fluid dynamics is an important cornerstone in science and engineering. This donation will be widely applied in research related to machinery, aerospace, energy, electronics, and other areas, significantly enhancing the school's ability in computational fluid dynamics research and teaching. He stated, "These software resources will not only deepen academic research but also promote technical exchanges and cooperation with the industry, providing students with practical opportunities to solve complex engineering problems and cultivating future leaders in the engineering field."

The donation ceremony was attended by TKU Administrative Vice President Chun-Hung Lin, International Affairs Vice President Hsiao-Chuan Chen, first-level supervisors, and nearly one hundred faculty and staff. The dignitaries from both companies also included: Siemens Digital Industries Software Solutions Partner Sales Executive Raymond Chung, Taiwan Siemens Senior Pre-Sales Consultant Jason Pien, and Senior Manager of Development and Management Yu-Yong Tsai, as well as Flotrend Technology CAX Business Division General Manager Hsin-Hsiong Wang, Chief Engineer Chun-Hsian Huang, and their marketing team.

After the signing ceremony, the delegation from Siemens Taiwan and Flotrend Technology visited the on-site venue of the Artificial Innovative Intelligence College to observe how the donated advanced software is applied in practical teaching and research, and to explore possible cooperation opportunities, further deepening the interaction between the school and its partners and laying the foundation for more future collaborative projects.
