Risk Management & Insurance Department and TRIA Co-host Annual Conference, Focusing on AI-Driven Insurance and Intelligent Risk Decision-Making
The “2025 Annual Meeting of the Taiwan Risk and Insurance Association and International Academic Conference,” co-hosted by the Department of Risk Management and Insurance and the Taiwan Risk and Insurance Association (TRIA), was held on December 13, 2025, at the Hsu Shou-Chlien International Conference Center. Under the theme “AI-Driven Insurance: Digital Innovation and Intelligent Risk Decision-Making,” the conference brought together scholars from Taiwan and abroad, as well as experts from government, industry, and academia. From both academic and practical perspectives, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on the challenges and opportunities that artificial intelligence, climate change, and extreme risks present to the insurance industry.

Tamkang University’s USR project, “Engaging Tamsui, Reaching the World: Promoting Taiwan’s Most Influential Classic Tours and Signature Banquets” (「走進淡水、面向國際：推廣台灣最具影響力的經典遊程與特色餐宴」) held the “Hsinchu Banquet Launch Event” at 12:00 p.m. on December 6 at the Sheraton Hsinchu Hotel. The event brought together more than 170 participants from industry, government, academia, and alumni circles, including Academic Vice President Hui-Huang Hsu, Board Trustee Wan-Chin Tai, Golden Eagle Club President Chien-Hsiang Lin, and Chuang Tzu-Hua, President of the Tamkang University Alumni Association Headquarters, to jointly experience a feast blending history and culinary culture.

Tamkang University Impresses with Ministry of Education Library Service Contribution Award — Nation’s Only Benchmark University Library
At 2:00 p.m. on December 16, 2025, the Ministry of Education (MOE) held the Awards Ceremony for the 3rd MOE Library Service Contribution Awards at the National Central Library, recognizing institutions and individuals for their outstanding contributions to the advancement of library services nationwide. Tamkang University’s Chueh-Sheng Memorial Library was honored with the “Benchmark Library Award,” becoming the only university among all award recipients. Adding to the celebration, five alumni of the Department of Information and Library Science also received individual awards, underscoring the department’s excellence in talent cultivation and its strong reputation in the library and information science field. Award recipients included Venerable Tzu-Yen Shih, Director of the Library at Luminary Buddhist Institute, Shu-Man Wang, Deputy Director of the Taipei Public Library, and Wen-Yu Huang, Section Chief of the National Library of Public Information, who received the Outstanding Library Administrator Award; as well as Hui-Man Niu, Editor at the National Central Library, and Yen-Kai Liu, Counselor at the National Library of Public Information, who received the Outstanding Librarian Award.
Yu-Lien Scholarship Continues to Illuminate Freshmen’s Dreams — Junior Students Move Forward with Gratitude
“We sincerely thank alumnus Hang-Chien Hsu for his support and generosity toward his alma mater, inspiring more junior students to strive forward together and continue this virtuous cycle!” At 10:00 a.m. on December 11, 2025, the Guidance Section of the Office of Student Affairs held the 2025 Academic Year Yu-Lien Scholarship Award Ceremony at the Chang Yeo-Lan Hall of the Hsu Shou-Chlien International Conference Center. The ceremony was presided over by President Huan-Chao Keh, with attendance by Academic Vice President Hui-Huang Hsu, Administrative Vice President Chun-Hung Lin, Vice President for International Affairs Hsiao-Chuan Chen, as well as first- and second-level administrators from relevant units, award recipients, and their families and friends. More than 300 participants gathered to witness alumnus Hang-Chien Hsu of the Graduate Institute of Management Sciences give back to his alma mater, benefiting younger students, and express heartfelt appreciation for his warm and benevolent contributions.
Outstanding Achievements in Advancing the “Three Circles of Curricula” Initiative — Flora Chia-I Chang Awarded Fellowship by the Chinese Association for General Education
Chairperson Flora Chia-I Chang’s contributions to education have once again received distinguished recognition. At the Selection Meeting for Fellows of the Chinese Association for General Education (CAGE), 6th Term, held on October 20, 2025, she was elected a Fellow. Subsequently, at 12:00 noon on December 12, during the General Meeting and Awards Ceremony of the Chinese Association for General Education held at Huafan University, she was formally presented with the Fellowship Certificate in recognition of her outstanding contributions to general education and the development of higher education, thereby adding another lifetime academic honor to her distinguished career. At the same ceremony, Zhongyi Zou, an alumnus of the Department of Physics of Tamkang University and currently Director of the Common and General Education Center at Chinese Culture University, was awarded the Exemplary General Education Teacher Award. In his acceptance remarks, he expressed special gratitude to his alma mater for its cultivation, adding a proud “Tamkang highlight” to the event.
