Learning from the Legislative Yuan
TKU Students take a tour of a the ROC Legislative Yuan during a leadership training camp held on Dec 7.

The TKU Student Association recently organized a trip to the Legislative Yuan of the Republic of China. The purpose of the visit was to allow students to gain a deep understanding of how the national legislative body operates and how formal meetings and procedures are effectively carried out. In total, 80 students attended the field trip, including leaders of TKU student clubs and students from TKU's Lanyang Campus.

An Early Xmas at TKU
On December 13, 2012, the TKU Center of Continuing Education (TKU Taipei Campus) held its annual Christmas Campus Fair. To celebrate a multicultural Christmas, the 2nd floor of the Taipei Campus was transformed into a bustling fair with stall after stall of delicious foreign food. The stalls offered food from Vietnam, Korea, America, and Austria, among others. Li Hsueh-Li, an international student from Thailand, expressed that “it’s so much fun studying Chinese with students of various ethnic backgrounds at Tamkang!”

Visit by Honduran University USPS

On the morning of December 11, 2012, delegates from Universidad San Pedro De Sula visited the TKU Tamsui Campus. The delegates included the USPS Vice President (Dr. Senén Eduardo Villanueva Henderson) and the Dean of the USPS Institute of Technology (Dr. Beatriz Cristina Brito Viñas).

New SF State President Visits Tamkang

On December 7, a delegation of four members from TKU sister university, San Francisco State University (SFSU), visited the Tamsui Campus. The delegation consisted of the new SFSU President, Dr. Leslie E. Wong, Vice President Dr. Robert Nava, and the Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, Dr. Douglas Hupke.

A Research Grant for TKU PhD Candidate Ni Chi-Sheng

Ni Chi-Sheng, a PhD candidate from the TKU Department of English, recently received a subsidy to conduct further research in the UK. Under the "Thousand Mile" subsidy, provided by the National Science Council, Chi-Sheng will go to the University of West minister (England) in March 2013 for 7 months to carry out research on the topic "Interweaving Images of London: Researching the Concepts of Space, History, and Literature in the Work of Iain Sinclair".

TKU Retains Its Status as an International Safe School
At a signing ceremony, TKU becomes the first university to be reaccredited as an international safe school.

In 2008, Tamkang University became the first university in the world to be deemed an International Safe School by a specialized unit from the World Health Organization (WHO) known as the Collaborating Center on Community Safety Promotion (CCCSP).
