10th TKU Quality Award Presentation

The 10th annual Tamkang Quality Award, which has incorporated staff position evaluation, on-the-spot inspections and review meetings awarded the College of Global Development, giving recognition in an award ceremony that took place on Jan. 27 (right bottom pic). The Office of Quality Assurance and Audit held the 10th Annual Tamkang Quality Review Board Meeting on Jan. 15 with 11 review board members: Event Organizer and General Secretary, Ting-chi Hsu, Director of the Corporate Synergy Development Center, Jih-hsin Peter Sher, Consultant Chin-ho Su, Chung Yuan Christian University Associate Professor of Engineering Industries and the Department of Engineering, Jui-chin Jiang, Director of the Center of Educational Resources of Taiwan National University of Science and Technology, Chia-fen Chi and other distinguished persons. They cooperated with the College of Global Development, College of Business and Management and the Office of Human Resources to carry out the review.

2016 Tamkang World Forum for Youth Leaders

【Kai-jun Lin, Tamsui Campus Report】The Office of International and Cross Strait Affairs (OICSA) held the “2016 Tamkang World Forum for Youth Leaders” from Jan. 19-22. This year’s forum was themed Prospects of the World: Meeting Challenges with Vision. In attendance was Vice President of International Affairs, Wan-chin Tai, Director of the OICSA, Pei-wha ChiLee, Dean of the College of Science, Zi-cong Zhou, Dean of the College of Engineering, Chii-dong Ho and Dean of the College of Foreign Languages and Literature, Hsiao-chuan Chen.

Wayne State University, TKU’s 186th Sister School

【Tamkang Times】On Jan. 27 Wayne State University of America came to Tamkang University to sign an agreement, officially partnering as sister schools. The honored guests were met by Vice President of Academic Affairs, Huan-chao keh. The American university was represented by Dean of the College of Engineering of Wayne State University, Dr. Farshad Fotouhi, Associate Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Simon Ng and Chair of Engineering Technology of the College of Engineering, Dr. Chih Ping Yeh.

2016 International Student Spring Festival Banquet

【Tamkang Times】On Jan.14th the International and Mainland Guidance Section held the “2016 International Student Spring Festival Teacher Student Alliance Banquet” in the Regalees Hotel in Tamsui. In attendance was President Flora Chia-I Chang, Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission, Shyh-kwei Chen, Director of the Office of Mainland Students, Jing-zhi Liao, the Ministry of Education’s Chief of International and Cross-strait Education, Min-ling Yang, and 350 overseas students. The atmosphere was exlierated as the audience watched the dazzling performances.

Champion Incubator Center Signs Academic Industry Agreement

【Tamkang University】On Jan. 9 the Champion Incubator Center went to the Taipei City Hall’s Yuan Fu Restaurant to sign an agreement of collaboration. Director of the Champion Incubator Center, Jen-shiun Chiang, and Honorary Counselor of the Taipei Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, Yao-li Sung, acted as representatives for the signing, which was witnessed by Deputy Chief of the Taipei City Hall Enterprise Development, Xin-pei Wu, and Director of Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Small and Medium Enterprise Administration, Chong-yuan Wen.

2016 Roundtable Meeting for Aerospace Engineering

【Xin-yu Wang, Tamsui Campus Report】For the development of more capable personnel for future industries involving aerospace, the Department of Aerospace Engineering held the 2016 Roundtable Meeting on Jan. 26. Director of the Department of Aerospace Engineering, Jing-min Tang, hosted the event; also in attendance was Supervisor of the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science & Technology, Chu-hsiang Chiou, Director of the Department of Aerospace Engineering of Cheng Kung University, Jin-xiang Zheng, Director of Aerospace Engineering of Feng Chia University, Bo-wen Huang and 12 TKU professors of the Department of Aerospace Engineering.

Department of Banking Insurance Holds first Alumni Reunion

On Jan. 14 the Tamkang University’s Department of Banking Insurance held the first graduation alumni reunion, which involved 30 members and was hosted by Executive Director of the Office of Alumni Services and Resources Development, Chun-young Perng. He also personally escorted the honored guests on a trip down memory lane, visiting the campus while sharing cherished thoughts. Vice President of International Affairs, Wan-chin Tai (second on the left) also enthusiastically attended the event.

1 Million Steps for Health and Other Rewards

【Tamkang Times】The Office of Physical Education held the closing ceremony of the “66th Anniversary Warm Up Activity- 1 Million Steps” on Jan. 14. There were 100 participants in this walk-for-fitness event. There were 84 participants that received certificates of appreciation for walking over a total of 600,000 steps and among them, 50 participants received certificates for walking a total of 1 million steps.
